205hp I believe...if you think that's bad my '88 F150 w/302 was rated at 185hp and the '88 TownCar I used to own was only 150hp!

Cool

MY 1994 Ford brouchure states 205 HP with a manual transmission. I sent my information into Ford and they said that I had 195 HP with automatic transmission. Well at least that was with the original engine anyhow, got more now !!!

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

Still...

Okay, i've read the the '94 351 had a mild 200 Horses. But that doesn't seem to make sense with Dean's information...I HIGHLY doubt that the horsepower specs are the same for the 5.8 and the 5.0. I know that my truck has 310 Ft/lbs of torque, but That can't be the ONLY differece! Help!!!

I can't remember for sure but I think that the 351s ran from 215-225hp.

For any given year, there's very little difference in peak HP between a truck 302 and a 351. It's the nature of HP that a higher revving engine is going to have disproportionately high peak HP. You need to stop obsessing about peak HP and look at the entire HP and torque curves. The 351 gives much higher numbers at virtually all RPM until it runs out of breath somewhere above 4500 at which point the 302 almost catches up in power; it's HP numbers are still rising when the 351 has already peaked. The max. HP number for an engine is not a good indication of it's total performance; it's mostly useful for advertizing brochures. Look at the entire shape of the HP and torque curves.

1994f150XLT... check you thread. I answered in there.

IzzyEddy... oh crap! I forgot Ford used different ratings depending on trans.!

The 302 has a puny 3" stroke which isn't good for a truck as it has difficulty making torque. The 351W is a MUCH better truck motor with a 3.5" stroke.

The torque is what gets you moving and the feeling of power, not 10-20 flywheel HP.
