Inertia switch location 1987 F150? (wont start)

After the truck stalled while backing out of driveway it won't start. Definately a fuel problem.

After doing searching I learned it may be the inertia?

Anyways I cant find the inertia switch for the 1987 Ford F150, Can someone please help me out?

after searching, is the switch a black little box with a greyish plastic thing on top on the firewall by the clutch? If so, it does not seem like a switch, there is no pressure on the "button". Is it supposed to be up or down?

Would this switch cause the fuel pumps not to turn on?

Because when you turn the key on you cant hear a fuel pump on either tank (duel tanks).

thanks! WIll be waiting for a reply

That sounds like the switch, although if I remember correct the button should be red. Anyway, it will be on the firewall above the pedals. The switch should be in the pressed down position to run. There is more the just that to making the fuel pumps run. There is also fueses and a relay that could be bad. Or the switch could be bad, there are many things in the circuit, I would not just assume it is the inertia switch.

On my 1992 it is behind the passenger side kick panel.

the inertia switch on my 90 Bronco is on the firewall (inside) up by the pedals.

Cool

guitar333, the switch is above the pedals on the firewall. Inorder for this switch to pop, it would take quite a large bump or a good bang when the parking brake was released. Also check under the hood on the driver's side, there should be small plastic box. It will have fuses and relays in it. Check the relay(s) that powers the fuel pump. I had a wire break off from the bottom of that relay and left me on the side of the road. I checked under the hood but didn't check carefully enough and missed it. Ended up costing WAY too much money to get fixed. Needless to say, I have never went back to that dealership again.

*I hate it when I am searching on a forum and find a thread w/ a problem but no solution*

The inertia switch was located above the pedals on the firewall

Turns out it was the wiring between the fuel pump, so ran new wiring from pump to battery

Appreciate everyones help here
