doing my motor!

Well the parts are starting to arive. i just got main and rod bearings, lifters, porting kit and a complete gasket set from summit. should be getting my custom cam from Cam Motion tommorow, and rings and a timing chain from Jegs on friday. We will see how i feel about it friday night, but i might decide to yank the thing out this weekend. I will try and remember to take pics. anybody have any tips on pulling the motor out of this thing? ive looked it over and seems pretty straight forward.

What are the specs on the motor going to be? What heads, intake etc?

You shouldn't have any problems pulling the motor, just make sure all the wires, ground straps etc are unhooked.

Remove the fuel rail at the rubber hoses not the quick connect swivels . it is alot easier to do . just has them plastic clips on the hoses . not any different then pulling any other motor .

going to port the stock heads and intake, and already have headers. I cant remember the specs on the cam, but i should have it today, and ill post them then. not going to be anything to wild, just a basic rebuild.

Ok, how the heck do you get the one hidden bolt out of the upper intake?

Cool

You will need a short socket that fits it ... I think in the 8 mm ball park and either a few long extension or a combination of long and short to get the height that you will need to reach the bolt. You have to put the socket with extensions down the slot that is cut in the intake and then slide it back until you land on the bolt. Looks more difficult that it actually is. Take your time and you will get it.

Pulled my motor out at a dealership and just pulled my buddies 351W out of a '91 F350 in his garage and they are both the same. Like Macgyver stated, if you pulled one then the rest are pretty much identical.

it is a #45 torx bit . long driver bit extension and a high tork handle for it . about 10" extension is what worked for me . go through the center of the intake there is a gap in there just for getting at that bolt .
