HELP! just got this truck and need some info

New here, not to cars, but to Fords(sorry about the handle but Chevy got ot me first), anywho, i bought this truck about a month ago, it is a manual(or you can read the sig below) but i am not sure if it is a C4(that is the 4 speed Ford tans right) or some other kind, i do know it is a 302 made in 1980, all i know about the car is it was once set up to drag race, or that was what i was told when i bought it, and it does boogie really quick when i need it to, but any info on the 79 F100 woudl help me in keeping this thing running. Did i mention there is enough room unfer the hood for my big **** to sit and work on the truck? MAN! pics will follow soon, thanks once again, and lets keep the streets of this great country traveled with the cars and trucks that made this nation!

Well i can't help you with which tranny you have, but I can tell you that it is not a C4. C4's are automatics.

I don't know about the transmission either, but I had a 76" ford and you could stand inside the engine compartment beside the engine with your feet on the ground and work on it too

no, definately no mullet, usually have a military fade, never been on or any of my family been on springer, and never watch wwf, infact i hate that show, **** on steriods if you ask me, BUT my favorite muscle and dream car is a 65 Mustang(built 302, 4 speed man, posi, fat tires on the back, a dark sky blue with white stripes running the hood to trunk, red leather interior, and a nice dual exhaust with a great sound) but i cant find one that doesnt need a **** load of work, infact i almost bought a 86 Mustang but the guy wanted a lot of money and it need new doors and a hatch cause they were rusted out

camaroguy,

Do you see any numbers or letters on the tranny? we might be able to identify it with some numbers.

Check for an aluminum shift tower if it has that (assuming the rest of the tranny is steel) I bet it is a t-18 good strong tranny
