351 Build-Up Continued ....
Well, we have learned alot of stuff since that last time that I posted about this. It turns out the motor is speed density so we need to switch over to Mass-Air. We have looked at conversion kits but they are a bit expensive. The problem with those is that inorder to make the 425-450 HP mark we need a 80mm Mass-Air Flow Sensor and a conversion kit comes with a much smaller one than that. What we are thinking about is to look in the junk yards for a complete underhood wiring harness so we can just buy another computer and the proper size MAF to fit our needs. Also, I showed Jamie my engine compartment and he liked the idea of a Power Distribution Box that sits on the driver's inner fenderwell. This would make the relays / fuses look so nice and neat with the open engine compartment on the '29. Most yards around here just start cutting the wires when they wish to pull the motors. Jamie wants to keep this EFI so it is easy to start and reliable on the road should he travel a great distance with it.
Does anyone know of where we might be able to find a wiring harness OR is this the right direction to go ??? I know Painless wiring also makes a harness and that may be our only alternative to this problem as they also make a under dash wiring harness when we go to do the inside of the truck.
So far, what we are currently looking at is a '91 351W with 30 lbs. injectors, 61mm dual throttlebody OR a single blade type depending upon the upper intake that we use as Jamie isn't too keen on the look of the motor in the '29 now since the upper hangs to the left side of the truck (when looking at it from the front) and the right hand side of the motor looks bare. He wants to keep all of the wiring nice and tidy so most of it is going to be out of sight if possible or attached to the firewall. Not sure which direction yet for the heads, it has come down to the Twisted Wedge or Victor Jr's from Edelbrock. Going with a 393 stroker kit, oil relocation kit as when we dropped the motor in the '29 the oil filter sits about an 1" from the frame rail. Thinking about extrude honing the upper and lower intakes if we stay with stock ones OR going with a aftermarket set to make the motor looked more balanced. Jamie kinda likes the one from Trick Flow, so we will have to see later on. We will definiately need a set of block huggers for headers since we are going to be so close to the frame. I mentioned about the headers that come out over the frame and then down towards the back but we would have to cut the front fenders and we would have to be worried about the plastic running boards that are beside the cab once it is finished. And the last piece of the puzzle providing we stay EFI, is a Superchip from Mike T. to keep this beast in tune.
Any hot rod builders have any suggestions, please feel free to post or email me. izzysterling@canada.com

Depending on what your budget is you might want to look into aftermarket throttle body injection setup. The throttle body bolts on in place of a carburator and comes with all the wiring and computers for about $1500 US dollars last i checked. Holly and Edelbrock both make good kits.
That would save you the trouble of adapting a factory efi system. Plus the older 1970's engine blocks are a lot stronger than the late model blocks.

Thanks for the reply !!!
Jamie got the 1991 F350 on a trade with a couple of trannies that he had sitting around for about 5 years. Pretty hard to beat a deal like that. Neal has a few older 351 blocks and I couldn't get him to give one up when I was looking for a 351 build-up block of my own. That was before I put a new 302 in the truck back in June of this year.
We were looking at those as well. Not really in depth but we may take a closer look at one of those setups.
