wanting brake upgrade.

i have a 2X4 94 F150

i have a broken front brake rotor. what is there in the way of upgrading the brake parts?

I have wondered if Lightning parts are better and if they will even bolt up. Summit has cross drilled rotors and hawk pads, which would be a fast and simple approach.

A disc job isn't that hard. I replaced the rotors and calipers on the front of my '78. All you gotta do is remove the calipers and that's all that "in the way." If you're not experienced then you might want to pick up a Chilton manual if you don't already have one to guide you.

You should check out the powerstop rotors and pads. I have heard these alone are the difference between a 79' caddy and a sports car. You can buy them out of summit for around 80 bucks a rotor. Except I am not sure if they fit 94'. If I remember right, they only go up to 93'. Does your truck has 4 wheel disk brakes?

Also, If you are serious about totally upgrading the system, then check out this link...

It is for an older truck than yours, but may give you some good info.

Hope this helps!!

Gen I Lightnings used the same calipers as standard trucks, so there's no upgrade there. Slotted rotors do a very good job of reducing heat and improving braking. Cross-drilled rotors mostly just wear out your pads quicker.

I'm very happy with the Performance Friction "Z" compound pads I put on my truck. They are dirty and can be noisy, but they stop very, very well.

If you get them, let us know how it turns out!! I have been itching to get them on my truck, but I spent a little more on my engine swap for performance parts than I originally planned, so it may be a while.
