Roller motor with factory fuel injection and computer?
Okay,
The truck was running very badly yesterday, very, very rich and rough.
I found the bad hose this morning, it was the hose going to the MAP sensor. The hose was dry rotted on the back and casing a major vacuum leak.
I fixed the hose. The truck immediately started running great. Took it around the block and then it started acting up again.
Now it idles very high. it will idle about 1500 rpm.
Then when you pull it into gear (auto) it will sometimes just die. when you can keep it running it runs kinda rough.
Help again anyone....before I shoot this stupid truck??

Mine idled kind of high every once in a while after I first installed it. Try adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body.(the one with the sticker beside it that says "do not adjust"). If that dosent cure it ford makes an idle air control adjustment kit. It is just a spacer that goes between the IAC and the throttle body with a couple of adjustable screws. A year or so I could have given you the part number, but now I have forgotten it. If you have to get one be sure and get a ford parts guy that knows what he is doing. It was part of a tech. service bullitin, and most parts guys will have no idea what you are talking about. I will see if I can find the part number for you.

Okay I think I found it. F2PE-9F939-AA should be it.
I also just rembered that a buddy of mine that works at a Ford garage told me I might also need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I never put one on, but it is something to keep in mind.

This might be kinda stupid but did you put the spout back in? I am interested in this topic very much, I plan on putting a stock mustang cam into my bronco, My stock cam is in a buds 94 "L" and woke up real nice. Did you also try to pull the dis. and put the timing pointer on TDC and then match up the rotor to #1 and make sure the dis. is not off a tooth? The books I have all say the stock GT cam will work wonders and is the best mod to do. They all say that the batch fire is not a problem as long as you get the plug wires on right. Also did you reuse your stock dis. with a new gear or did you go and get a junkyard dis.? the TFI might be bad or even the cap and rotor itself (on my GT at the track I was playing around with * and it would jump 4-7* from a bad rotor) What is your TPS voltage? when I did the cam swap into the GT my TPS had to be reset. Check all vac. lines and pcv lines (under intake is huge area that needs to be looked at from all the heat).

I havent checked the TPS voltage yet, gonna do that today.
Put a vacuum gauge on it last night and it was 20 in. at idle 14 in park , my Lightning is 20 in park and about 15 at idle, gonna check my other 87 today.
I keep swapping parts from my good 87 4x4 to this 87 longbed trying to find the problem.
