Getting ready to rebuild my 120k 302 in my F150. I am wondering of the Explorer intake was a better intake than the stock intake for Torque?? Its any easy swap for the blower. I'll be doing a 306 rebuild with flat top pistons and GT40 heads and stock cam.. or maybe a 5.0 mustang cam...which ever is better for Torque. Gotta tow that Turbo charged Notchback around ya know

IIRC the Exploder manifold is basically the "Cobra" cast equivalent of the GT-40 intake. It provides a lot more high end flow than the stock manifold but has very long runners which promote low rev. torque. It's obviously a good choice with the GT-40 heads.
For a truck though, the Edelbrock might be a better choice, especially if you tow with it. It's reportedly a torque-monster.
As to cams, neither a stock nor a Mustang cam would be your best choice.
The Crane 2020 is a better truck cam and the 2030 is better yet if you want some more top end too. I've got a 2030 in my Mustang auto-xer with GT-40 intake and GT-40X heads. It PULLS.

The Crane 2040 is the same as (same manufacturer, same grind, diffferent label on the box) a "Ford" E cam. It's a high-rev cam, not designed for a heavy vehicle with tall tires. It's basically not what you need in a truck.
The 2030 has more lift, less duration, wider lobe centers. It is a monster mid-range cam for use with GT-40 heads. It allows a light vehicle to accelerate well from low revs, has a torque peak at about 3000 and still pulls well up to a 5200 HP peak
The 2020 is a bit milder than the 2030 gives a little more low range and a bit less mid-range. It starts to run out of breath at higher revs This is probably the towing cam of choice and would be a very strong street cam.
With GT-40 heads and a cam, you're going to want more air than a stock intake will provide.

Thanks for the info. With a fresh motor (306) with better heads, and camshaft (2020), I doubt a new intake will make much of a difference to me. If I feel that I want a little more then I will just swap the blower pulley to 10 lbs(3.33) vs the 6-7(4.0) I run now. If that don't do it I can always come home to the mustang and go blasting down the road via turbo charged 357

Much milder, more of a drop-in flat tappet cam for otherwise stock engines, wasted on GT-40 heads. The 2020, 2030,2031 and 2040 are hydraulic rollers.

Hey Forcefd, that cam is some good stuff. I installed it (powermax 2020 roller) in my 351 when I did the engine swap. Although I added 1.6ratio roller rockers, long tube headers, underdrive pullies, and 2.5" dual exhaust in addition to the cam, I can tell you from experience that this thing has TONS of torque. On the low revs, it doesn't quite pull like a stock 460, but by 3000rpm it will clearly outrun it all the way up to 5k. It seems to not even let up at 5000rpm, but I have not had it higher to find out were exactly the power peaks at. It will also respond differently to a 5.0, being a smaller engine, it will act like a little bit bigger cam than in a 5.8l.
