Question about Troyer Performance electric fans....
Question about Troyer Performance electric fans....
Sorry, I know this is the computer chip board, but I didn't really know where else to ask about the Troyer performance electric fans for the '87-'96 F-series trucks. I was just curious as to how long they usually last and who the manufacturer is. I am looking to purchase some electric fans for my truck and I just wanted to make sure I do the proper research beforehand. I was also curious as to the alternator requirements and how well they work with underdrive pulleys (I have the March Power and Amp series). Any information that anyone can proved would be much appreciated.
HI!... The fans are made by DERALE. I've been running twin 16" DERALE electric fans now for over 4 years. No problems here. They have gone through mud, water, salt and a lot of CANADIAN winters. I've also been running ASP power pulleys for the same amount of time with the electric fans. No problems at all.
Hi TF,
*We* are the "manufacturer" of the kit, that's why it bears our name.
Actually, we use about 13 different manufacturers components in our kit. There are components from companies like Beuller, Airpax, & numerous others. The fan motors themselves are basically mil-spec units and will probably outlast your vehicle. The controllers are made by a company that does nothing but make those controllers, and they're the only units we've found to be rugged enough to meet our requirements.
We never wanted to make a fan kit, the only reason we did was simply because all the other kits used components that we did not consider to be rugged enough for the kind of durability we wanted. They also used straight exposed fan blades & numerous other archaic features (or lack of) that we felt we did not want to sell.
You can read all about our kit over on our web site at www.TroyerPerformance.com - click on "Shop" once the home page loads, and then you'll see the section with all the electric fans & underdrive pulleys, etc.
For the 1987-1996 trucks, you need to use our dual 14" kit, and that kit can be used with the 95 amp alternator even if you have underdrive pulleys, as long as the pulleys are a "street" series as opposed to all-out "race" pulleys.
What I would suggest is to give us a call when you get a chance, and I can go over all of this in proper detail with you. We should also talk in some detail about just *exactly* what you have added to the electrical system (if anything) in the way of additional current draws (auxiliary lighting, stereo amps, etc.), so that we can give you a proper recommendation as to whether or not you can use our kit on your vehicle with the pulleys & alternator size you have, etc.
Our contact info is just below, & talk to you soon!

Thanks for the info. Considering the parts that are used, that's not a bad price for the fans. I'll probably upgrade my alternator as well before I get the fans. I'll just give you guys a call.
