Question Airbag flashing code 4-5

The airbag light on my '95 F150 is flashing. Looks like a 4-5 pattern to me. I did a search on the topic and found on other post with no replies.

Anyone know the cause of the light before I take it to the dealer?

Thanks!

Does your horn work? Ever had the steering wheel off? Is the SIR/airbag fuse good?

Thanks for the reply! Horn works. Airbag fuse is good. *I* have never had the steering wheel off, unless the previous owner did. I've owned the truck for almost 8 months now, but the light just came on 2 days ago. Any suggestions, or should I just bite the bullet and take it down the road to the dealer?

If you want your airbag ready for use I would find out what that code is, even if it means bringing it to your dealer.

When the air bag light is on the system will not work, the airbag will not fire. The system does a self test everytime you turn the truck on. It should flash 7 times then go out if everything is good to go.

You could also try posting your inquirey in General Discussion and/or Electrical, someone in there might be better at this than us.

inski21, thanks for all your help! I'm going to make a call to the dealership, I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Just got off the phone with the dealership, and an Airbag 45 code has to do with a bad connection or mounting to the center airbag sensor on the rad support. He told me to check out the mounting and the electrical connections to the sensor. I'll look at it tonight when I get off work and keep you updated.

Wish me luck!

Hopefully its not corroded. Maybe a little dielectric grease is needed.

That was nice of them to tell you what to look for over the phone. Around here they would have made me make an appointment and charge me $75 for diagnosis.

BTW, I met a guy from PEI about 2 months ago at a party/wedding reception on Campobella Island, NB. He was a younger guy about 20 years old. I wondered how he got to this party, and why. I never figured out who he knew there Anyway, we all got drunk drinking Alpine Beer

I've checked the connections, and right now I'm fairly confident it's the connection to the main wiring harness that's bad... Where it connects at the firewall on the driver's side. I checked the connectors to the sensors on the rad support, and both of those look great. I traced the wires back, and they both led to the main harness on the firewall. I giggles the connection a little bit, and made sure it was pushed in ALL the way. The light stayed off for a while, until after about 5 minutes of driving.

So my guess is that one of the wires isn't making a good connection at that harness. Someday when I have some time I'll take it apart and have a good look. I'm heading to Nova Scotia for a week, leaving tonight at 6:00.

Alpine? ALPINE??? No thanks. But I'll share some Blue with ya! Oh, and I'll be driving through Maine on my way to Albany NY on the 3rd week of August this summer.
