in tank fuel pump problem
i just bought a 1990 f150 xlt lariat 4X4 with the straight 6 and 103,000 miles on it. great riding truck. anyway, yesterday i drove it up town in 115 degree temps. and when i stopped it died, like it was running out of gas, switched tanks and started right up. about half way home i switched back, drove great. when i bought the truck, two weeks ago, both tanks were full, ive been using the rear and two days ago i topped it off then drove 12 mles home. after i had this problem yesterday and switchd tanks i noticed the front tanks gauge was pegged past full, had to put about 40-50 miles for it to come down to the full mark. today i drove it on the rear tank and it seemed fine. could this just be a freak thing or has it to do with the in tank fuel pump problem ive heard about. iv heard of a re-call tha, i guess, involves ford replacing the intank fuel pumps. what do i have to do to get ford to replace them. sorry this is my first post on this forumn and its a long one. thanks in advance.
Indeed it sounds like the fuel tank crossover issue. I got a recall letter for that (my wife thru it away
), mine hasn't done it and I haven't brought it in for the recall. I guess just call your nearest dealer about it. I think they can just run your VIN to see if you qualify.
