Of course this is at sea level and pure water
Thank you for your input throughout this thread. I have often found that sometimes people, myself included, have a tough time hearing something new, or different, and it was nice to be backed up by someone with professional credentials. I also learned even more from your replies, which is always a good thing!

Take care,

I don't know about NASCAR but a lot of racing organizations have outlawed the use of anti-freeze in cooling systems. It makes the track too slippery after a wreck.

You're welcome, this has been an interesting & informative thread. I always enjoy reading your posts and its obvious your information comes from good research and experience.

ccnseven & others
The purpose of my posts was to contribute information from my point of view to the discussion. It was not intended to berate anyone for thier point of view or choices. The point I was trying to make was that given what I understand about thermodynamics, Glycol to Water mixtures greater than 50/50 offer no benefits, and can theoretically actually do harm under the right circumstances. If you ran the entire 300K miles with a straight Glycol coolant, that is very interesting and it goes to show that theory doesn't always represent real life. But personally, I want the most effiecient (and cheapest) coolant I can use to protect my engine (which I believe to be water) with just enough Glycol to protect the internal components and prevent freezing no matter where I might drive. BTW 300K is certanily a glowing testimony for your care and maintenance of your truck!

Good point on the freezing point of straight Anti-freeze vs freezing point of a mixture, I didn't know that. BTW, I was just ribbing you on the 70/40 thing, we're all human, just seemed too good to just let it go.

My luck usually really sucks, if you hang out with me everything you own will break. I like to think that ford really does build the best truck on the road and you can't tear em'up.
