Homemade Code Reader

Is there a way to jumper the plug for the computer and get the light to flash the code for the check engine light? I have done this before on GM vehicles, but never on a Ford. My brothers 95 has the CE light come on every once in a while. I think it is the O2 sensor, but want to be sure. If I can do this, what are the flashes for the codes? Thanks for any help you can give.

There is a way but i don't remember how. You can buy a cheap code reader for $30 or have autozone scan it for free.

I've done this in my old prelude a few times, but I can't find the connector to jump in my 91 4.9, anyone know where I should look?
