Blew the tranny

Well I broke my race built tranny on Thursday night. While I was driving, it all of a sudden started bucking and going through the gears but no reving. Well I brought it to the shop and they fixed it, and the part that broke was a one-way clutch sprag (I think) well it was a big aluminum cylinder and I had somehow mashed it together where the clutch was. Well they replaced it wit ha mechanical diode, that they use on race cars, and he said there is no way I can break it. He said that was the only weak point that was still in the tranny, and he didnt think it would do that, he said he sees alot of those on high hp stangs, but he said the weight of my truck and the fact that I am making soem decent power, it was under the same stress. Well the truck is abck and running better than ever.

You'll notice the mechanical diode was on my tranny build sheet for my AOD, gotta have it, you just found out why.....

If you stick with the old sprag, the least thing you can do is move up to a newer cast iron version, but every AOD tranny expert I talked to (and it was a whole bunch!) said to go with the mechanical diode and forget about it.
