1993 4.9 Starting problem
Whenever I try to start my engine after it has been off for several hours and it cold, the first attempt ALWAYS starts then within a couple seconds it stalls.
Then the second it will usually sputter but stay running. Except sometimes when it is very cold it can take 3 attempts.
It will not stay at high (cold) idle very long. Only a few seconds.
I removed the Idle air control solenoid off, disassembled and cleaned the shaft with carb cleaner and reinstalled.
That appeared to cure the problem. Fired right up on first attempt, and high idled real nice for 30 seconds or so, but after only 2 days I'm back to 3 attempts on a cold start to get her to stay running.
I run regular 87 octane.
Any idea's what I can try to fix my problem ??
Thanks for your time.

Maybe try replacing the IAC. I know this is problem with the Lightnings, but most of the guys get away with just cleaning it. I don't know the price on one but if it is cheap I would just replace it. Goodluck. -Mat-
