Cool Tranny Swap

I am going to swap my E4OD, to a C-6 OD..
Also I am going to an after market intake and removing the EFI..

What else does the computer control if anything??? I have a 91
F-150 with a I-6.... The EFI is going anyway so I am going back to
the good old CARB... What does that computer do other than give me error codes!!! Any info would be great.... I would like to go Diesel but I don't think the frame would take it..

Not on this planet. Unless he's going to an aftermarket OD like the Gear Vendor$.

Yea... The E4OD is going and it is going to cost me as much to overhaul it as it will a fresh C6... I had a C-6 in my last truck and loved it.. All I am worried about is what the computer controls besides the tranny.... Yes it will be the A/M OD..

Off the yop of my head, the ignition system needs to change to a Duraspark, if you have ABS it will be gutted, the in-tank fuel pumps will need to be changed, the in-line pump will need to be removed, if you have an electronic speedometer/odometer (not sure about the 91s) it will be history

Question Anyother Swaps??

How about an AOD swap?? I just wanna get rid of that E4OD..

I was also thinking about going with a computer from a standard, and putting a AOD in it....Not controlled by Electronics!!!

I can't find any data as far as how long or bolt patterns...
It is a project truck so I can put in a Mech Tac, Cable Speedometer.. They make a great dash kit with a blank instument panel..

I swaped my E4OD out for a worked C-6.....and i love it.
I went through 3 E4OD'. They are junk! (stock anyways)

I had no problems with the computer. I just unhooked the wiring harnesses and zipped tied them up underneath the framrail.

The AOD is a pretty weak box in stock form, far weaker than either the AOD-E or the E4OD. It's Achilles heel is the 2 piece input shaft. It can be strengthened by replacing it with a 1 piece shaft, but you lose the lockup torque converter as a result. Check out Lentech, Art Carr and Baumann Engineering.

Brad,
The c6 swap was one of the best things i've done to my truck.
Both driveshafts had to be replaced (the front one needed to be smaller and the rear needed to be longer.)
The T-case was just moved forward aprox. 8" or so. And i didn't even have to drill any holes.....the frame had them there already. I think it was still an option back in 91 to get the C-6 or the E4OD.

The only thing that sucks is i lost overdrive......but it's worth it in my case.

I would definetly get a C-6 if you want a trans thats gonna take an *** kickin.
