1997 ford ranger

I found a huntergeen 1997 ford ranger for 2500.00. It has the 4cyl so i imagine its castrated. But is there any complaints on these trucks? I will travel in it like 50-60 miles a day. Its got 65k miles on it. But what im worried about is the price. Why would it be so cheap? I havnt looked at it yet but its at a dealership

I'd say ****** it up, if it's just a little 4 cyl. 5 spd. nothing fancy. they go cheap, it's just cheap transportation. I had a 92 4 cyl. 5 spd. completely gutless, but good on gas mileage (I miss that) and bullet proof, 150,000 miles and the kid that bought it is still on the road with it. for as many miles as your running it would be good for you....good luck

yeh rangers seem very reliable. I may grab this. My other choice was a 1992 cadillac deville <--- hahaha big grandma car.

One thing tho. Im a pretty large fat person. And i want to install 2 subs behind the seat. What type of truck boxes fit these things.

95 Ranger

93 thousand miles, so far it's never left me stranded, which is most important. Mechanically, the 2.3 is an economical engine that can last forever with basic maintenance. The same isn't necessarily true for the rest of the truck.

Watch out for electrics, make sure the signals, wipers, and interior lights work without quirks. Some trucks from around this time frame can start to do all sorts of spooky things when they've been on the road 6-7 years and the wiring harnesses start to wear down. IF it's the 60/40 bench with the center console, DO NOT lean too heavily on that folding center armrest and tell passengers not to put too much weight on it either. It's a flimsy design and eventually if you're too rough with it it will start to gradually droop to one side when a bolt inside the mechanism that mounts it to the seat breaks.

I've seen some fairly elaborate box set ups even in regular cab Rangers. There's the possibility of loosing maybe a click or two of seat travel, but it's doable.
