interior door handle

I just tried to get out of my truck and the door handle was stuck and just wouldnt move. Has anyone had this happen to them. I had to roll down the window and get out that way. Have yet to take off the door panel. Any thoughts? 96 F-150 S/C 4x4 351W. Please help!

this just happened to me. whatever you do don;t yank as hard as you can, i did. the handle breaks off. does your handle move but no release or not move at all? mine needs to have the linkage and stuff cleaned, but it's too freakin' cold. the door panel comes off with 2 screws and some of those cheap plastic holder thingys (no idea what they are called). try to see what ='s not moving.

Yeah most likely the latch seized up, usually you can take the door panel off and soak it down with wd-40 and get them to work again, but there usually not too expensive so i usually just replace them. I would definitely take the door panel off and take a look though to make sure it's not just something silly.

Never heard of that one, but my steering wheel is loose! Sittin still you can shake the steering wheel a 1/2" in any direction. I am assuming there is a bushing behind the steering wheel that is worn. You guys ever noticed this?

Must be a loose nut behind the wheel

Actually there is a rag joint in the steering column that can tear and cause that problem, but most likely your steering box is worn. It is adjustable, you just loosen the lock nut and turn the screw, just don't adjust it too much at once you don't want to get it too tight and cause the gears to bind.

Handle Sticking

I've broken both of mine....but hey they are cheap and I usually keep a set on hand ( find them on eBay from time to time). The suggestion to clean and soak good with WD40 or with another premium lubricant should take care of your problem. I just did my drivers door about three weeks ago. Good Luck.

My '95 did the same thing. Inside the door on the handle/latch assembly a washer got loose and became lodged in the lever mechanism. Quick fix.

Let us know what you find out.
