how much ATF

Ok, I went to change the oil in my tranny (an M5OD) and i drained the old stuff and then i couldnt get the fill plug out! I spent like 3 hours, i tried everything, air impact gun, ratchet with a big cheater bar, box end wrench, nothing would break it loose. my only other option was to drill it, so i decided to take out the shifter and put in the oil from there. only trouble is, how much? I looked around on the internet and found a tech article that said to use 4 quarts. but i got my chiltons manual back today and it says 7.6 pints, thats like 2 quarts right? so right now my tranny has 4 quarts in it, will this hurt it or do I need to drain it out and put in the 7.6 pints?

thanks guys!

Dave

2 pints = 1 quart
7.6 pints = 3.8 quarts

4 is "close enough for government work"
