I change my oil every 2K and i use Mobile 1 full synthetic 10W 40 and Fram oil filters.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

The best additive is none at all. If any of that crap worked, Mobil would have already put it in their ptoduct. Some of them are actually harmful to the engine, most are simply useless.

I would seriously reconsider using Fram filters.

They have great advertising, but not so good products.

I agree with above

If you're running synth and changing it every 2000mi (Oh, BTW, when you drain that out, would you send it to me so I could use it for a few k mi? ) I don't think you need any additives. Also, there's a website on the net somewhere that does a comparison of a slew of oil filters and shows which are good and which are not. I believe the Fram faired pretty poorly in the analysis. I use Wix or Motorcraft.

I found the oil filter study page; http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/

I would definitly agree about staying away from oil additives. Although I seldom argue about which oil or gas is best, I must say that Fram oil filters and Super Tech oil ( .84 cents /quart at Wal*Mart) have done well for my truck for the last 257,000 miles. Not sayin' it's the best, but hey, even if it's the worst, I've gotton my fair share of good running miles out of it. I think the important factor is to consistantly change oil every 3,000, and keep other fluids checked. Just my .01 cents... (Can't afford .02 )

Holy sheot!!! I'll take some of that used oil too!!!! Damn, Mobil should send you some stickers, ball caps, a jacket, and frequent flier miles for all that product you're buying. I must agree with everyone else, if you are using superior lubricants such as Mobil 1 synth and changing every 2000 miles, you don't need anything else. I use good ole Motorcraft filters and haven't been let down yet. A little tip.....you can leave that oil in there a bit longer ya know(like another 5000), it doesn't break down like conventional oil, that's why you started using it in the first place, right???

Change dino oil every 3-5000 miles depending on how hard you use the engine. Synthetics are good for 5-8000 miles. (I change at 3K and 5K respectively.) Use any quality oil, there is no "best" oil. The store brands, like Wal-Mart, are made by the major refineries and privately branded for the stores.

Filters are another story. There are good and bad. Wix is reportedly good as are Motorcraft and Purolator. I've read way too much bad press about Fram to take a chance with them.

Ive been using Energy Release in my trucks for a while now. Now first off the reason i use it is because its made locally here and i can get it cheap, if i had to pay retail price, i would think twice. They dont claim it to give you no 100hp gains or anything, in fact it probably doesnt gain you anything in that regard, but it does protect your engine and maybe help it last a bit longer. they say it modifies the metal surfaces at the molecular level to smooth it or something like that.

I saw them do a demonstration (in real life, no smoke and mirrors) where they took a steel rod and spun it with a drill press in a hole of the same size. first they did it with plain motor oil, and the oil just burnt away and it eventually seized up. they did it again with the ER and it never seized up, even after it had all evaporated from the heat.

just something for yall to consider.

A lot of those additives (don't know about ER) contain chlorine. They'll let your engine run on almost zero lube BUT they eat the hell out of your bearings, even when there's good lube present. Check the label; if there's chlorine compuonds listed, don't use it.

If you must use an addative, I'd recomend Morey's engine stablizer. You can get it at NAPA. It's 100% petrolium, no chemicals, and it is supposed to "stick" to metal parts to eliminate dry starts.
Napa filters are Wix in Napa boxes, a very good choice, and Napa's oil is valvaline, another good choice. By the way, I do not work for napa.

WOW!
I didn't realize Fram was so Sh*tty.
The reason i change my oil so frequent is because when i drive it....i drive it hard. And that 302 takes a beaten pushing that 3/4 ton truck around with 40" boggers. I figure i'll help it as much as i can.

yeah, I use mobil 1 and change it every 3k (roughly) and use a motorcraft filter. The motorcraft FL-1A and puralator are the same filter. I have only seen one fail. Where as fram, I have seen many. As far as oil, I use 5-30, and no additives. Have you ever looked into a bypass system for your truck. They say that you can keep you oil much longer by filtering it better. The one I was looking at was an ams oil product. Just a thought.
