Today I installed the TransGo shift kit, and after a whole day of working on it, I take it out for a test srive and I have no 3rd gear or overdrive, it just stays in 2nd. Doesn anyone have any solution or an idea at all of what the problem is?
Hey Beastie, I have almost the same truck as yours, awhile back my trucks computer went into limp mode causing the transmission to stay stuck in 2nd gear, I disconnected the neg. battery cable for about 20 minutes, reconnected and problem solved. It might be worth a shot?.

Well if there was nothing wrong before the shift kit, chances are thats what it is. A few possibilities with the install to go wrong:
There are 10 rubber ***** in the valve body that pressure from on side or the other of the valve body puch the ***** open or closed to build or relieve pressure, on of those could easily have been dropped back into the wrong hole or fell out completely unnotice.
The two gaskets on each side of the valve body are not the same and could be reversed or put on backwards completely or partially blocking a pressure port.
For each spring you changed there is a valve retraining clip that could have fallen off or not been installed properly preventing the valve from opening and closing. I think there is one valve for each gear, not sure. There are also pressure regulators with springs & clips that would have been changed in order to control firmness of shift, these too could have fallen off or been left off.
If the transmission neutrals out on the 2-3 shift that could also be clutches as the tranny will shift but the clutches are not holding, not likely the case though.
Just a few suggestions, hope you figure it out soon. Let us know what it is when you find it.

Well come to find out, 2 bolts are missing, 1 is actually broken off in there, and 1 is completely missing, so I dont think the valve body is making a good seal. When I took it down the first time, I numbered every bolt I took out, and well come to find out after talking to TransGo I am 2 bolts short. So I dropped the VB again to make sure, and there it was, 1 bolt broken off, 1 missing. I am going to Ford tomorrow to pick u pthe 2 bolts.
BTW there are 8 plastic checkballs, and you have to remove 1 of them, and nothing is in the wrong place or missing in the VB, IK mean I have taken it down about 8 times, and checked it every time LOL If 1 good thing did come out of this, it is that I can drop a pan and VB so fast, and I know my way around that part of the trans pretty good. Between Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, I spent a total of 26 hours working on it, and that was pure work time, I only had 1 meal each day, I think I am sliming down

It's not good to think about how many hours it takes, makes ya start thinkin you shoulda paid somebody
Trial and error is the best way to learn, at least thats what I tell myself when its all over. Oh sorry I told you wrong on the number of plastic checkballs, been 5 years since I did mine

Update, I pulled out the broken bolt, and replaced it, and replaced the missing bolt. Now I have 1st-3rd gear all the time, but everytime it tries to go into overdrive, it dumps it into neutral, I have heard that this is a shift solenoid problem, I will call TransGo on Monday.

I didnt mess with the servo, and i didnt have any extra parts, so I have no idea. A guy that works at a local Ford dealership, said he would get one of the guys that builds the race transmissions for the mustangs to take a look at my truck
