Exclamation Holy cow

I"m fixin to order a screamin demon tune up kit and a superchip and thought I'd go ahead and get some of those denso iridium plugs you guys talk about. I love my truck but maybe not that much. I dont know if $110 bucks for plugs is worth it
Are they really that good?

Donate and PKRWUD speak highly of "Champion" truck plugs, I'm giving them a try my next plug change.

Champion is what I have always run, but am willing to try different to see what works best.

I've been happy with plain old Motorcraft so far. I've used NGK in my racecar with very good results and may try them in the truck. Basically ANY quality plug is OK as long as it's fresh. The performance gains that most people report from a tuneup with their super-trick XYZ brand plugs come from the fact that their previous plugs were used up. They don't last nearly as long as the automakers would have you believe.

The Densos were pretty nice in my truck. Cost was $80 from Mike T. When I took out my old plugs they were in perfect condition, and after I changed to the Densos and all Accel stuff, the truck starts easier and revs up quicker. The SOTP dyno could feel a little something

Beastie, do you think the plugs are what the sotp dyno felt or the tune up kit? For $80 vs. $115 I might think about it a little more. After all its treated me right the 11yrs its been paid for

well, my truck seems to like them best out of all the plugs ive tried. theyre not as good as denso's, but not as expensive either. IMO you cant go wrong with them, but if you dont mind the price of the denso's then go with those

Do some searching in the Lightning forum and find the couple of dynos. Under boosted conditions in an L, they squeaked out all of some 3 extra HP. Considering that the L makes twice the output of our trucks, and that boosted conditions are harder on plugs..... I'm thinking $100 for a possible HP isn't good spending.

I've had the Motorcraft, Champions and the Autolite Platinums in my truck. The Champions seem on par with the Autolite Plats, and both give slightly better mileage than the Motorcraft plugs did.

Nothing like a new set of plugs!

First, StrangeRanger, save your money. I bought a brand new set of NGK's at my last plug change, and they sucked hard. My Grandmother could have felt the difference, and she died two years ago.

Second, FWIW, I have thrown away more money than I care to admit trying different plugs, and I haven't found a NEW plug yet that runs as good as the OLD Champion Truck plugs they are (were) replacing.

Third, ccnseven, are you using Champion Truck plugs, or regular Champion plugs? The truck plugs are black and gold. if you're using regular Champions, move up to the truck plugs.

Fourth, $110 for 8 spark plugs??? They'd better wash my damn truck too, for that kind of money. I'd skip them.
