Knock sensor? Broke!

Well, I'm in the process of swapping a lower mileage 5.0 into my 1995 F150 and while installing, what appears to be a knock sensor on the back top of the block, I broke it off How much do these little gadgets cost, and do auto parts stores have them? What would happen if it were left unhooked? Any help would be appreciated.

Keith

They're less that $10 at Ford, and you need it. It allows the ECM to detect pinging long before you'll hear it, and it acts accordingly by retarding the timing until it stops.

Take care,
