Under Mubarak, competing political organizations were not allowed to exist. But religious groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood were legal.

So when Mubarak was overthrown, the Brotherhood was one of the only national organizations in place to fill the vacuum, and they were able to win the elections.

Now that the people have had a taste of Fundamentalist rule, they want new elections and a return to secular government.

I have friends that live in Cairo. The issue really exploded when women were being raped on the streets and then found guilty of adultery and executed. They are in no better condition than when Mubarak was killing them. The Brohood was supposed to create jobs but there are even fewer today under their iron fist. What you are seeing is a moderate Muslim community that is fighting a radical bunch of murders. They were duped by the Brohood and they are not going to put up with it. There WILL be change in Egypt and soon. Unless our dimwits manage to screw things up, we should be friendly allies again.

There are pictures of Egyptian protesters holding up signs (with vulgar language that can't be posted here) from the last few days screaming in opposition of the muslim brotherhood and Obama's support of it.

Looks like Obama backed the wrong horse.

Morsi has been relieved of his duties by a General and their Constitution has been suspended.

That's crazy. Two revolutions in less than three years. Egypt is one of the worlds oldest countries too, you think they would get it right by now.

Obama has made a habit backing the radical side of Islam. The Muslim Brotherhood is where the majority of the radical Islamic terror groups got their beginnings.

My question has always been what would happen if we started to revolt. How happy would Obama be if other countries stepped in and told him to settle down and do what threvolutionarieses want? He would not take to kindly to that. He would oppose the revolution with extremprejudicece.

It's interesting how a lot of people in our country are praising the revolution (s) in Egypt.

As interesting is how there are people calling for a revolution here. Do people here want a revolution like that in Egypt? Considering how divided we've become, I'd expect the violence and bloodshed here as well.

I do believe that we need to stand up for our god given rights. I'm not yet to the point where I believe I should have to fight my fellow citizens in my own neighborhood.

I think that education is the key. Better education might have allowed for better outcomes in Egypt as well.

Our government has set the heat for a slow boil. We'll see if enough people realize that it's getting hot before we all become soup.

I would not be surprised at all to see Egypt go even more radical/extremist after this all settles down. Many Copts have left the country in the last few years.

Don't worry, Obama has the Muslim Brotherhoods back. He will take care of them.

The Salafis make the muslim brotherhood look like choir boys. If they take over, its only a matter of time before they go after Israel:
