What's up with that?
It's been kind of slow here, if you haven't noticed, in this designated sub forum. I don't know if that has any relevance, but just saying...
I've been around here for a while now. I remember, for years we've had vigorous debates on politics and religion. There were widely conflicting opinions from many different forum members. Discussions became heated, sometimes to the point of name calling and mods having to intervene. I start this thread, tonight, in a sub forum that hasn't had a response for almost a month. What's up with that?
What happened to the days where people actually wanted to post their opinions on the current events? What happened to the days where people stood with the strength of their convictions? What happened to the days where people, here, wanted to engage in discussion to try to effect the opinions of fellow forum members? What's up with that?
In reality, these are rhetorical questions. It takes no more than reading the threads and posts in the sub forum to come up with the answers. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place. There are a bunch of people, here at F150 Online, who are A-OK with the current state of affairs. People who feel no need to express their opinions, because their opinions are expressed every day through the government and the MSM. There are only a hand full of people here, who are concerned, and who want to express that concern.
Yes, I'm born and raised in Massachusetts, but I am profoundly concerned for the future of our county. For my life, for the lives of the ones I love. I think that there are plenty of reasons to be concerned. One major reason is the lack of concern by those who expressed extreme concern in the past. They're silent today. They are A-OK with the current state of affairs.

A lot of people have moved on to other forums. Ive done that also, but Ive also been really swamped lately with work-related issues. I still check out this place about once a week though to make sure it has a pulse. General discussion as a whole has suffered since the creation of this subforum. It's dead in there. Lol
I know one thing, its been sickening to see the MSM's reaction to the Benghazi attack. Where's all the great shoe leather reporting that we saw back during Watergate?
No, I'm not holding my breath for it.

I can't speak for anybody else, but the question I ask myself anymore is why. Why get into the debates when it doesn't matter? Why call people to task when all they are doing is running full steam a head to a nanny state? Why argue when the majority of people see no problem with only 53% of the population paying to support the government? Why confront people who instead of saying the US sucks if you don't work are saying the US is only good for those who are rich (yo dumbarse if you work you might achieve a bit of wealth). After the last election I decided that people simply want a government hand out. They want their free Obama phone, rent, food, etc. People do not see a problem with getting these free government handouts. Our society has changed drastically. When people start asking for a maximum wage, there is a huge problem. When the federal government only forces states to obey certain federal laws, but not all there is a huge problem. I believe this country is almost too far gone to be saved. I think we are close to and I am preparing for the next civil war. I have seen my fill of war and will most likely sit this one out, but make no mistake it is coming and it will not be a pretty sight.
If you want to see a good parallel to what is going on in this country rent and watch Atlas Shrugged, or read the book.

With the exception of the Civil War part, I agree with what 1depd said so well.
I could elaborate at length, but why bother? The path has been chosen, and it hurts like hell to talk about it.
My advice is focus your time and energy on your loved ones and your business (if you have one). That is more productive than trying to save the country from itself.

I will admit that my position on another civil war is based solely on my observations of the several sites I visit during a day, but....I see Congress becoming more divisive. I see both the far left and right refusing to compromise and becoming more militant. I see a lot of the people getting "free" stuff from the government willing to do anything to keep the gravy train coming and I see those providing the "free" stuff starting to get tired of providing for those who refuse to provide for themselves. That is why I believe a civil war is on its way. If Congress does not cut the free stuff the providers are going to get more restless. If they do cut the free stuff the freeloaders will become more restless. I will admit it is nothing more than my opinion, but that is what I am basing it on.

I, for one, take the time to explain/educate youngsters about the problems we are facing as a country. It may be a waste of time, but I do it anyway because you know they don't get it in school.
I truly feel that this present administration is the tyranical (or at the very least the start of it) government the founders feared.

We are all right to an extent! Apathy, personally digging out from under the economy, life in general, takes time. Plus, the new energy coming into this site isn't as politically oriented as the older members. Same old same old when it comes to the GD section. You can only bare repeating yourself so many times..........
I know here in NC, the Conservative General assembly was welcomed with high hopes for change. The only change we seem to be getting is more government out of the guys that told us less gov. was their platform.
Sniff, sniff.... I miss you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The path I see us going down has two possible options from what I can see. 1) government regains sanity and starts cutting spending on things that don't add to the economy. 2) Government continues to spend for things that do not add to the economy even when it is blatantly obvious that we can no longer afford it. I think either option is going to end badly. I think three endings are possible. 1) Those who are getting free stuff start to riot and cause large civil disturbances. 2) Those providing the free stuff riot and start creating large civil disturbances. 3) Neither side riots and we follow the Soviet Union and essentially have our government collapse under the weight of the debt and giving away free stuff. Any of the three endings will result in politicians blaming everyone else except themselves. The left will blame the right because they wouldn't fully implement their vision. The right will blame the left for spending on things that decrease the desire of people to go out and be successful. All three endings mean a very tough time is on the way.
