They also tried to close the deal before Dec. 31 to avoid paying higher taxes.

Like I said, you can't make this stuff up.

Free market....follow the money.
You can't pick and chose who plays capitalism.

Notice time Warner is also following free market principles and doing the right thing in some opinions by pulling the network based on their contract.

Money talks and unfortunately it seems to over-ride common sense.

We just had a similar deal get pushed through here. The Chinese bought a large Canadian oil company called Nexen. Public opinion was not in favor of the deal by a large margine. I felt it was a poor idea and I work in oil and gas but the Prime minister rubber stamped it himself and let it happen.

It's all about money and in the end deals like these will screw both the US and Canada.

That's the liberal way. Money for me not for thee. Al Gore come out and said taxes need to be higher for the rich like him, but pushes to sell before the new year to avoid taxes. That's just too funny.
