The American Community Survey

I received this survey in the mail a few weeks ago, addressed to "Resident". It seems way too invasive and personal for my liking, even though confidentiality is promised. I threw it out, but had a business card on my front door when I got home yesterday requesting a return call to set up an appointment to complete the interview with a field Representative.
I think this is for a good cause, but I may take a pass anyway, in the name of privacy.
Opinions?

If you don't participate, the government isn't going to be able to properly redistribute wealth.
I'd tell them to go pound sand!
My mother in law used to work for the census and we would get into all kinds of arguments. She thought her work was SO important. I would tell her to go to the dictionary and look up the word census, and the Government didn't need to know how many flush toilets I have in MY HOUSE!
They can't make you give out that information, so don't. Tell them how many live in your house, their ages, and sex, then tell them good bye. But only if they persist, best to say no thanks from the begining.

As it turned out, a young woman from Census caught up with me in my driveway and asked for five minutes of my time to complete the survey. I told her what I thought about the invasion of privacy and she assured me that I could decline to answer any of the questions, but it was important to actually go through the process and decline to answer where I felt necessary.
I answered no questions about personnel, but did answer more questions than I would have thought. I don't mind telling anyone the square footage of my home or how many toilets I have, etc.

I also think that the cencus is important, but just like anything the gov does, it has become way over blown and invasive.

The flush toilets I refered to in my earlier post was just an example of how easily I could get under my MIL's skin about the importance of her job.

The part that just bugs the snot out of me is the depth they go into with Race. I thought we were supposed to be color blind, but it seems that the Gov is the one that pushes/stirs up race more than anyone.
