AL immigration law

OK I'm watching some news show on network TV. About the AL illegal immigrant law. They are interviewing lifelong Republican Voters that own a watermelon farm. They say, this is the worst law ever enacted, without these workers they can't operate their farm. WELL INSTEAD OF ILLEGALLY HIRING ILLEGAL WORKERS, then complaining about it now that they cannot do this illegal activity anymore, they should have helped to get the laws changed, so they could have made the workers they had legal. Instead, they reaped the selfish rewards of hiring illegal workers. Now they have to find a new LEGAL WAY to run their business.

This family should be charged with hiring illegal workers and prosecuted.

How many unemployed AMERICANS do you know that would take a minimum wage job picking watermelons? Tell ya what - go to one of the OWS rallies and offer them jobs, see how long it takes to get tossed out.

I'm with Efeurhin on this one. There work visas that can be obtained to work here legally, and there are Federal laws against employing illegals. Every company I have gone to work for requires an I-9 form to be filled out or they can face something like a $25,000 fine. There is no desire to control our border so I-9's are never checked.

So how much do you think these fine watermelon farmers are paying in payroll taxes? My guess is somewhere around ZERO! Yup, I agree, lock 'em up (the farmers), besides I don't really like watermelon that much any way!

I think there are a lot that would.
More than are reported by the MSM, have 2 jobs trying to make ends meet with the issues they are having, and some wish they could get a 2nd job paying what ever they can get to try to help make ends meet.

Just an opinion, but there are a lot of Americans that now are taking what ever work they can, the 'would a Citizen work for that much ?' is no longer a question, it is not 1998.
The MSM will not report on the thousands of people that are doing this, as it makes the OWS protesters look exactly like what they are, slackers that want a mulligan.

OWS protesters have been doing nothing but spending for 4+ years, and now do not like the idea that their CC history is going to haunt them for 10+ years, and the 35K in student loans they got, just to get a masters of fine arts in puppetry did not yield them a 6 figure job, and they are pissed off at everyone else for nothing thinking through this stupidity.
- Yes this is a real example of Joe Therrien, that is at the NY OWS protests. He was a drama teacher ( go figure ) that did not like the little pay he was getting, quit his job and spent 3 years getting a masters in puppetry, and when he graduated from the Univ of CT, the only work he could find was substitute teaching at the school he quit from at 50% of the pay. He thought the Masters Degree would get him "a measure of security". Strange, sounds just like what K-Mac would say

OWS protesters do not want jobs as far as I have read.

They want all the debt forgiven ( student loans, CC, mortgages, etc ) and everyone to live a hippy commune type life style.

I had to laugh at the comment about how there are vacant houses from foreclosures, and homeless people.
Why not put the homeless people in the empty houses and cure both problems ?

Really, why don't you take them home with you ?
That's right, mom & dad would kick you and the homeless person to the curb, and they would cut you off.

Looks a lot like the hippy movement of the late 60s to me.
A small percentage of them made a ton of money on the protests and movement, and 90% of them only got the clap.

I didn't mean that this should be directed to any forum members. Absolutely
not. It was for people that raise hell about it from all parts of the country who just
don't grasp the fact that an overloaded system is being burdoned and taken
advantage of. We've got enough genuine citizens to do that. I commend the
people who take the long hard road to gain citizenship in America. I had a
conversation one day with a guy who worked for a paving contractor when we redid a railroad crossing. He told me he only had to work in the states for 5 years and after that he could go back to South America, live like a king on
the dollars he sent back that got converted to their form of currency and never have to work again. The people who aren't out in the everyday world
don't see how things really work. If people want to come here and work then
fine, just take the steps to become a citizen so they can contribute. I didn't
mean to come off so heavy-handed, sorry.

They don't have to do the citizenship thing, as long as they are here legally. If they are legal chances are they are paying taxes on their earnings, that is the way it should be. If they are on a temporary visa and have a kid, that kid should not automatically become a citizen.

But what do I know.........I still don't care for watermelon!

I've heard it explained that we can't (what???) give those kind of jobs (manual labor/picking fruits/etc) to americans because we have to pay them minimum wage instead of the $2/hr or whatever the illegals are getting. That would increase the cost of groceries and everything else too much and nobody could buy vegetables anymore...

If that's true ( idk if it is or not...) why don't we get some good old fashioned chain gangs going? I think putting our jailed population to work could solve a lot of problems. They get exercise and fresh air and we get something for all the tax dollars that are paying for their meals and cable tv.

Get some sheriffs and deputies on horses with shotguns, and if a guy runs, shot him with some number 8 shot. Not enough to kill him, but enough to make him wish he was dead

That would never work.....

Probably have to use Rock Salt to give them more wishing power!

The other thought is if I'm chained to a guy and I know that a shotgun is waiting for him if he runs, there ain't no way I'm going to let him start running. The spread pattern at 50ft is not very forgiving

Depends on which end of the pattern you are on. My first choice would be the begining and not the final destination.

As a foreigner who came here legally I had to pay lots of money to attorneys & to the government to process all my ppwk. I have dual citizenship but what does irritate the hell out of me is the way illegals come here & get all sorts of benefits!!!! I came here legally & got nothing!!! Where is the incentive to do things the right way??? The cahin gang idea is a great one, make the convicted suffer, prison is not supposed to be a vacation make them work & kick the illegals out!!!

When people know they have the crutch of government to lean on, heck no they're not going to take a minimum wage job.

That is a major problem with this country.
