Does anyone else find it strange that the Senate ( the group that has not done budget work in over 800 days ) has all sorts of time to have Mike Rowe come in for testimony back in MAY ?

This is back at the same time the Senate majority was trying to pass a bill of Attainder against the oil companies.

Why would they have wanted to spend the time working on the budget back then, and remove the countries debt credit risk reduction and further action waiting on the Super Committees paralyzation.

Rowe would be a huge step up from Obama.

That's not really saying much, I think the stray cat I see running through my backyard would do a better job than him!

So when does the "fixing" start? All he has done so far is jack things up.

I will agree there were many things that needed fixing, or continuation ( depending on how you look at it ).

Let's start with what are the qualifications for him to fix anything ?

He started in IL state congress in 1997.
After 7 years in State senate ( resigned in the start of the 8th yr to go to DC in the senate ), he was ready to do 3 years in the Senate from IL. Resigning in his 2nd term to take the office of the POTUS.

So 10+ years , he has the qualifications to run the country ?
Speaking of which, what were his qualifications to be POTUS ?
- Does anyone recall running on his qualifications being a topic in the Dem primaries or the campaign ?

This is something that the US MSM does not talk about, but read the European print they mention it quite often ( i.e. Palestine - Israel comes to mind ).

Like her or hate her, Michele Bachmann has real world experience in the area of taxing ( from her time in the IRS ) to be able to lead real policy work in the area of taxation and the economy.
Obama might have theoretical knowledge from his time of being a professor, but we all saw how well having a professional professor worked in economic positions with Obama's appointment.
When things did not work like the text books he teaches from, he went back to teaching as "not to loose his tenure" ( worried about loosing a sure thing ).

When Ronnie finished his 2nd term, there was a lot of things that needed to be finished.
George H had the qualifications to lead the country, foreign policy he might have been over weighted in real world experience, but that was a big item back in the 90s.

Maybe foreign policy should not be a focus, but if that is the case stay out of it.
Telling the IMF 'good luck with that, you got a real mess, we fixed the US's. BTW no money from the US' is not a good thing to have as value add to the topic..
Sounds like George W sticking his nose in the Turkey - Euro Zone stuff, just stay out of it.

When the things that needed to be addressed right out of the gate were ignored to work on signature policy ( Health Care Law ), you knew things were not going to go well.
The 111th congress and the POTUS could have cared less about the economy back in 2009.
All the focus and work was on Health care, they just tossed money at the economic issues to try to fix it. No real policy work, just carry the country for a year and everything will be fine.

Now what needed to be fixed in 2009 is broken much worse, and now there is real fixing to be done. What are the qualifications of the candidate to lead the country should be more important that ever, but the MSM will not talk about that.

I don't care who ends up running, but as far as who we NEED in the office? An everyman/woman--somebody who has NOT been a career politician, but instead, a hard-working person who has seen the poor side of the tracks, instead of somone who has never suffered with the issues that everyday folks struggle with. I fear that we are getting farther and farther away from what our country was founded upon--that to eat, one must work.

Stop fattening people who refuse to get off their duffs and work. I'm sorry, but I have to get up at 5 in the morning, 5 days a week...the least they can do is TRY. Show me some initiative, so that I won't feel quite so bad about supporting you and (barely) being able to pay my bills.

It's that simple, in my eyes.

Being a third generation plumber, I can relate to what he is saying.

Like others have said, it wouldn't take much to best the current occupier of the White House. Mike Rowe could certainly fit the bill.
