Get a load of this... I have no respect for this man after this. You're supposed to take care of your own first.

Yep that seems to be a sickness that is starting to take hold.

Here illegal......only benefit should be a trip back home and a tatoo on the forehead that says you entered the U.S. illegally!

Supporters say many of the immigrant students were brought here as young children by their parents.
Oh, that makes it OK. You got the start of the family, collect them all and send them back, or at least the 1 you have.

The US immigration policy is weakened to the point of why have it anymore, just open the gates, and let everyone in. No need to be a citizen.

The supporters of the bill should be recorded, and let them pay the tuition. There you go, you wanted them to have an opportunity, you can pay it yourself. 1st payment is due in 90 days.

These limo liberals are really starting to get my goat.

I try to stick to facts, but I would bet ( read supposition ) this is a Ted Kennedy scenario. Those that support the bill also do not send their children to state schools, opting for private schools.

What is next, state colleges must offer bilingual classes, so they are not disadvantaged ?

Same people might also portray Republicans as Corporate favor granters, that do nothing for the citizens anyway. Those evil nasty corporations that do nothing but supply jobs and make the economy move.

You are correct with the statement of "take care of your own first".

If this was not going to be a money issue, what is the reason for making the bill ?
The student did at least 3 years in a MA HS as a non citizen, what is the need for a law about state colleges ? After 3 years in a MA HS, now they are going to start checking for US citizenship ? Maybe they should have checked at the HS level ( and booted them ) ?

MA is making it OK for non citizens to go to a state college, but Homeland Security is tasked with getting out the ones that have stayed beyond their welcome ( expired visa or no visa to start with ).
Why is it MA is making it OK to ignore Homeland Security ?
Bet if this bill passes, and one of them becomes a suspect in a terrorist action, this bill will be quietly swept under the rug.

You make some good point SScully:

What bugs me is the three year part. Really? So you are going to let that go for 3 years?!?! I just fail to see the reasoning behind this whole deal. All I hear is people load out on welfare (there are those who are doing it legally/correctly and then those who take advantage of the system) and then the politicians complain, yet I don't see the difference here. I see at my campus a wide range of students. I could care less about race, but if you're illegal, game over in my book. I don't care if you are white and illegal, get out. It's wrong and the country is setting itself up for disaster because there are people who really need the help, yet "we" are encouraging beating the system by opening the doors. It's like opening a bank vault for a criminal. Maybe I need my Doctorate to see it and go to Yale

Actually I think by time one gets a Master degree at a university, the brain washing is complete ( at least in my opinion ).
A PhD is over achieving liberal brain washing
