Fair enough. I know several hard conservatives who took a decidedly large step left during this economic downturn. I have not taken that step. I have described my position as socially centrist and economically far right, with the most importance being on the economic position then social issues. My position can be summed up by saying do what you want, but don't require me to pay for your actions.

Where I stand......hmmmm, that's good question. The more crap I hear getting spewed by the media and from both sides the more I like the idea of kicking them all out of Washington and starting over, realistic no, will it ever happen no probably not. Trying not to sound like the strange guy on the block that everyone whispers about or the quite guy that turns out to be total nut case serial killer. I am really tempted to start flying a don't tread on me flag with my 1911 on my hip and my Marlin 336 in my hand, I am tired of the status quo and thinking it will get better because it won't unless the American people take the blinders off and send a clear concise message to Washington. You work for us!!!!! Don't screw with us or we will find someone to replace you at election time that actually gives damn!!!! This self entitled society that has been created is going to be the down fall of this nation and it has got to stop. I am not directing this at any one political party I am directing this at all of them as well as the lobbyists in Washington because they are all to blame and none of them are taking responsibility for there actions by pointing fingers at each other acting like 5 year olds saying but he started it!!! Knock it the hell, off grow up and act like grown men and women, and show some dignity and self respect that your elected position deserves!!!!!

Ok, I feel better now I am getting off my soap box.

Yep. A lot of the economic woes are self-inflicted - by people who can't differentiate between their "needs" and "wants". I have no sympathy for people who live way beyond their means - running their credit cards up to the limit and going "upside down" in their homes and new vehicles - and buying toys for their self-gratification. People who are struggling to make ends meet do NOT "need" brand new $40k trucks, travel trailers, boats, motorcycles, and PWC's.

Welcome to the wilderness of sorrows.

I do, because it has taken me half a century to learn that living beyond my means to be happy is a deception that leads only to the wilderness of sorrows.

I believe it so strongly that I now feel sympathy for those who have yet to feel the sting of this lie.

Which monster will "lead " the people next?

Gosh, I hope it's not a mean one.

I work with several people who have this issue. The sad part is with what we make and where we live, all of them (with the exception of those paying alimony or child support) should be doing very well and living comfortably. I have lived long enough to know that unless someone asks for financial help, just let them figure it out for themselves. I don't tell them what to do, but I definitely have no problems telling them of my successes. I had more people at work ask how I could afford my truck on my pay when I bought it. Since I make over 70k without overtime, my position is how can I not afford it. Before some of you get upset about a fed making that much money, 10-15 years ago my job was performed by two people each making over 50k in todays dollars. I loved telling them what my payment is and that I have no debts except my house and my truck payment. If they want to listen to how I handle my finances they can ask and I will answer, otherwise I leave them alone. As long as Congress doesn't start cutting pay and benefits substantially, I'm good and won't have any problem making all payments and staying afloat. Heck the wife could lose her job and we' be fine for a couple years.

For one, I am a deeply sarcastic person.

You seemed to imply that the politicians in office in this country have any redeeming characteristics or that they can be classified as human.

You implied that they shoud work for us. That's the lie the say when they want to get elected. They work for themselves and their own interest. I learned that recently when I read the reply from my South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson. All he wanted is for me to support his pile of excrement.

I don't see any of our leaders as human so I classify them as monsters.

Monsters all of them.

Did I mention that I am also angry at our government?

Roger that.....I thought I was reading some sarcasm in that but wasn't totally sure. I have begun to classify politicians some where below ameba's just because ameba's actually serve a purpose.
