Rubio on the debt debate
Rubio on the debt debate
I found this very interesting and thought I would share it. Rubio didn't even have a teleprompter.

Maybe in 2016 they will run, I don't think either of them are interested in 2012. I like them both. Lots of chatter about Rubio being a 2012 VP choice but I wouldn't if I were him.
I dunno, the Senate is one place where a strong debater is needed. The president usually only lasts around 8 years, he could potentially have more influence on long term policy making if he stays where he is at. It would be fun to have a person like that in office but it would be like a medicated bandaid, only improves the condition for as long as it is there. The next guy to come could undo everything. Besides, if he does go to office then you are back to the older ideas and debates so nothing would get done most of the time anyway.
Definitely a name to follow.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

He does correctly identify the problem, " if you give government the opportunity to spend more money than it has, it will do it, it will do it every time...." - particularly in DC. I wonder if the new minority of fiscal conservatives whom I applaud, can resist the need to compromise in order be re-elected. All of these people are only career politicians.
The deal is to cap the major spending areas, and jack up the debit.
In short, nothing was really solved.
The caps are one thing the house wanted spelled out per item, and the Senate would not budge on this ( back to the job of grabbing headlines, rather than working ).
What happens in the future is 5 areas of stalemates rather than a single large one.
This can lead to the defense budget coming to a stand still, until they hammer out where in the defense budget the money goes ( robbing Peter to pay Paul ).
Considering the majority in the Senate has nothing to present as work on the topic, it is going to be back to Reid saying the Republicans are wrecking the payments for XYZ.
The phrase has been beaten to death, but that is what happened on all fronts.
am I the only one who is thinking the government will shut down again? I am in the military and I'd like to still get my paycheck but it seems that the government is just going to sit there and not really do anything about it, until they shut down again. The next time they do shut down can they just not take their paychecks and still pay us on time?
There are a lot of people missing the big picture here. The REASON the dow dropped is simple. The Wall Street powerhouses WANTED to go into default. This is why this whole deal was put off quietly for so long. If the US defaulted and our rating was dropped, the interest rates would have gone up. That everyone knows, but what it means for Wall Street is that they have their hands on all of these commodities and interests. They would have made a TON of money if the interest rates rise. More than any of us peeons could imagine. I guess that's why I find it funny that everyone on both sides of the issue blame the president or the congress or any politician at all. Other than the fact they are not willing to address Lobby reform, Our problems stem from the deep pockets of the lobbyists (read Wall Street and Large Corporations) and not any one individual politician.

Going at it for so long, to pull it out at the end did nothing, in other words same old same old.
If that was the case, why did the price of some of the 30 stocks drop by 66 points total ( ~ 2.2 pts each on average ) ?
What would "wallstreet" being trying to prove with that ?
I guess it is not the fact that the govt is on track to spend a few trillion more, and has no real plan to get out of the tail spin they are in.
You know, I think that most of the replies have some merit. I am 36 and I still don't know where I fall in the political areana. Deffinatly not to the left! I think I have just lost belief that the Tea party or the republicians can do anything about the debt, jobs or anything else that WE Americians care about. Do WE even have a voice anymore. Seems not.
Could Rubio do something about this debt? He talks like he could. But he's just one guy.
All I know is I have my wife my guns and my property. What do you expect, I live in Georgia
