I’m not diggin’ the chrome

I expect this to be deleted (PLEASE DON'T) but I had to try. I don’t have enough posts to put this in the classified section.

Wanted to trade

I just picked up a 2010 F-150 4x4 XLT Crew and it has the chrome package on it. I know it seems odd but I don’t want the chrome but the deal was good so I bought it. I already have new black wheels and more appropriate tires but I want to black out all of the chrome stuff.

I’m thinking there has to be someone in SE Michigan or Northern Ohio who has a F-150 with black bumpers, grill, front tow hook loops and door handles that wants chrome ones. If you are that person I would like to trade you. If I don’t find someone in the next few weeks I will pull the bumpers off and have them powdercoated and have my buddy spray the grill. It would be a shame to do that perfectly good chrome though if someone wants it.

I already sold the wheels.

I am removing the step bars and going with something else so if you are interested in those they are an easy swap.

Let me know if you are interested. We could park the trucks next to each other and swap away easy as pie.

You can email me at jasonetter78@yahoo.com

thanks

Why dont you just get the bumpers painted black, then you could get the chrome surround on the grille painted black, then you should be good

That's the plan if no one is looking for chrome stuff. I just can't imagine there isn't someone out there with black stuff that wanted chrome. If so two people would be happy.

That pic is one I found through google, my truck is silver. The grill still may look good unpainted though. I am thinking about it, that’s for sure.

You can't really paint chrome and expect it to last long. You're best bet would be to powder coat the bumpers and find a painted surround.

My opinion, but I've seen what painted steel bumpers look like after a few chips and a winter. Rust spots galore!!! My boss' 08 Limited looks horrible, only way around this is a clear wrap. That would be the one thing I keep if your not into chrome.

I was talking to another F150 the other day & he said that he had a bumper powder coated but within a year there were rust spots appearing so I am not sure thats the way to go

It takes only 10 posts to use the classifieds. I moved the thread where it belongs.

I sand blasted the chrome off the rear bumper and then painted it.. that was two years ago and haven't had problems with it.. then again it is the rear..
