I told my wife there's a guy down in NC who's concerned she might bust some of my 2x4s.

You best not come up this way.

...........but what you have done is fine.

Now about your wife.......if she is so fat that she would break through, then you shouldn't let her out in public!

Or at least you would require a Super Duty truck!

Looks good. Now you need to build some nice boxes that will fit under the platform and you will be totally modular.
