Scary Looking Black Guns aka "Assault Rifles"

Ok y'all lets talk about those weapons that strike the most fear into a Liberal's bleeding heart, semi-auto rifles. I am looking at buying another safe queen but can't make up my mind on what I want to get. I have a PTR-91, AR-15 (in 7.62x39) and a SKS already. But I still can still close the door on my safe so I need to put a few more in there. Right now I'm leaning towards these:

1. AR-15 Complete in .223

2. AR-15 Upper in .223

3. Springfield M1A (M-14) in .308

4. M1 Garand in .30-06 or .308

I'm torn, I have always liked the Garand and M-14 and really want one. Since I already have a few rifles that shot .308 I could stock up on ammo and feed several weapons. On the other hand .223 ammo is a lot cheaper than .308 and I could get a lot more bangs for my buck. I have a feeling that even if a new AWB is passed through the AR uppers will be available for a while longer so I could hold off until after things calm down.

Does anyone on here own both types of weapons and can compare them? Let's leave the politics out of this thread and just talk about guns here.

i would go with the springfeild or garand till the AR thing dies down. you will not find a good deal on anything ar related at the moment, much less even get ammo for them.

Well, it's worse than I thought it was. I went to a few places this afternoon and no one could even order anything I wanted. One place had two ARs in stock, they were both consignment sales. The owner was asking $2500 for a Sig AR clone! I asked the guy behind the counter about it and he told me the story of it being on consignment and that was the owner's asking price. We both agreed that it was more like a $800 weapon. Forget about ammo, there was nothing in stock. The salesman seemed to think it would blow over once the mass hysteria ebbed. I hope he is right because the prices on Gunbroker are just stupid right now.
