Supsension Troubles

Just bought my first vehicle. She's a 1997 F150 V8 4.6L. Bought it for a thousand bucks knowing that there would be troubles to deal with. Been really good so far but the guy managed to lift the truck and put 35s on it but didnt put a legitimate kit in it. It now rides like a tank. I feel every bump, crack and pebble in the road. Any ideas on how to smooth the ride out a bit? Please remember that I'm in high school and cannot drop major money on an expensive lift. Any cheap but quality fixes would be appreciated.

What type of lift did you get? If you got aftermarket torsion bars, then that can kill ride quality. Also, did you upgrade the shocks? If they are stock from 97, then they need replacing.

If he got 35s on it without a real lift kit, then he probably put aftermarket keys in it (bad idea) or cranked the stock ones up as high as they would go = rough ride. That's assuming it doesn't have a body lift. One of my friends has a 2001 single cab on 35s, and he did it by tightening up his stock keys all the way. He pulled a front shock in half so he obviously went too high. And like atr04screw said, if you have stock shocks then they are probably completely gone and need replacing
