What are you guys using to air up your tires after the trails?
What are you guys using to air up your tires after the trails?
Been looking at some options to get my tires filled back up after the trail (mostly beach sand). I have a compressor at home so I thought of filling up a five or ten gallon air tank to take with me, but researching it looks like it won't have enough air for all the tires to be filled up, not to mention any other trucks with me.
So next I was thinking of using one of those small three gallon or so compressors, hooked to an inverter.Just not sure how much wattage they pull, but I think its the amps that are an issue there.
I assume the most cost affective answer would be a simple small tire compressor. Wallmart has a truck tire inflator (i think its like 50 or 60 bucks) thats suppose to inflate a normal truck tire on like 4mins, but 60psi in my 35's will probably take a bit longer.
Im trying to keep cost down, don't need to run air tools or anything, and I dont air down too much. So what are you guys using...thoughts?

Whenever I go out trail riding or hunting, I always keep a 30 gallon air tank with me and it holds about 150 psi, so I could fill all of my tires up if I needed to, but that is mainly for emergencies since I don't normally air down my tires. I've seen those little air compressors that hook into a 12v cigarette plug for about $15 at academy and my friend got one for his 4 wheeler, and it took about 1-2mins to get his tires just to 10-15lbs of air, so theres no telling how long it would take to get to 60 psi.
I bought a MV50 SuperFlow hi-volume air compressor for about 60 bucks plus shipping a couple years back and it still works like new. I have it hardwired to the battery its 12 volts and comes with a large fuse in the line. It will work off your battery but I always start my truck when Im airing something up as to not kill my battery. It will air up my tire from flat in about five minutes or so. It really puts some air out
I looked into CO2 tanks, a little expensive, but I guess I could find one used. I might look into a high flow compressor like Alex has. Do you reminder where you got it? I know wally world has a few heavier duty ones for larger truck tires, might be like that.
CO2. You can get a 20lb tank all set up for under $150. You can fill about 10 sets of 35's with a 20lb tank.

I think I'm going to get a small pancake compressor with a 1 or 2 gallon tank, it draws like 2amps, then I can get a 400watt inverter (or maybe a bit larger) to run it. That will give me a small compressor for around the home and an inverter to use for other things as well.

I got the MV50 from ebay for about 75 total(shipping included) Ive had it for a couple years and still runs like new. It doesn't go quick but Ive aired up tires up to 50 psi in roughly five minutes. A car tire would be about one minute.
