transfer case

today i was driving in snow and i was on ice and the rear wheels spun and i stoped compeltly and put it in 4x4 hi and it made a griding noise when i barely hit the gas so i get off the gas and hit the brake and hit the gas again and it did it again then it when clunk and it was engaged i think its nornal but i know your not soppesed to engage it when the tires are spinning and i never have done tht but tht is what it seens like its doing

I've had the cold effect the engagement of transfer cases in the past, so that's my guess. Try the 4x4 again when it gets warmer to see if it still does it.

And you can engage 4x4 HIGH at speeds up to 55 MPH. To engage 4x4 LO is when you must be completely stopped.

Also, punctuation is your friend.

Thanks man tht is probly what it is. Oh and sorry about the punctuation. My bad i was in a hurry i guess and didnt think about it.

next time if you think your going to need 4x4 put in while your coasting it will go right in.
