BL and Towing Abilities?

I got a body lift and i did drop the hitch as well so the hitch is in where the factory bolts and such are. I figure i would have the factory towing capabilities? Guess my question is that i will be doing alot of off roading when i return from my deployment so just wondering if it will be good too use bc im also looking at this to get to connect a strap too:

anyone else know of good stuff for recovery besides a winch and straps lol

as far as i know as long as you do not raise the hitch up along with the body then you will still have the factory towing capabilities, but if you raise the hitch up 3 inches with the body then you do not want to tow with it.

do you mean hitch or bumper? dont pull from the bumper before or after a body lift.

If you actually have a hitch mounted to the frame then use that. I have a D-link just like that one you posted except mines solid not just boxed.

i would never pull from a bumper lol unless i had one of those fab fours or road armor ones haha. But yeah when i did the body lift i dropped the hitch as well and it mounted right back too the factory hole and bolts into the frame

Well i did the body lift myself so i think i know .... You actually have to cut with a grinder to get the hitch to come off and re weld it after you install the 3" blocks. Technically you are right by you dont drop the hitch but as in most cases alot of guys around here say that bc of the fact that if you dont raise it along witht he body lift it shows so thats why i said i dropped the hitch bc as you see in the last picture its showing.

If you mounted it in the same position with the same hardware I would assume that you still have the stock capabilities.

I agree, as long as the hitch is in the stock location on the frame, nothing on the drivetrain has moved, just the body parts. I guess now its a question of the strength of your drop hitch? haha

my only question is since i welded it back into place im not sure if its still strong enough so when i get home im gonan take it to get a bracket welded on there for added support. Cant harm it only try to make it better . Now for the recovery part im just gonna use a rope i found on chucks trucks forum and thinking about getting a 5 ton tow hook from there as well. A little much yah but wont hurt
