solid axle swap

i recently purchased a d44 front axle out of a 79 bronco. i'm converting it to throw in my 96 f150. i was curious if anyone knew a good site to purchase the proper mounts i will need; coil mounts, shock mounts, track bar, etc.

What brackets are you talking about? Its a bolt in setup. The only things I can think that you'd need would be a trackbar mount for the frame. Even the factory one will bolt into place. You can get a different frame and axle mount from Ballistic. BTF could make them for you, but Ballistic is hard to beat on prices. Jesse can make you a set too, but he deals mainly in lifts and such.

Really just grab everything.....and I mean everything from the front suspension from the donor truck and i'll all bolt right into your 96. Should be a weekend project.

You realize that they're essentially the same as the 95s.

On my explorer I used the stock 79 trac bar mount. It's welded to a .25" plate which is then bolted and welded to the frame. I built my trac-bar out of 1.5x.25" DOM and bushing ends. I'm using stock 79 coil buckets which have been cut down. Because the explorer frame is narrower than a 79 f150 I have welded the buckets to 2x4 rect. tubing, all of which is bolted to the frame. I'm using early bronco springs on the explorer since they're soft. They'd bee too soft for you i'm sure but you definitely don't want ttb springs. They're stiff as hell.

Your swap is similar. Especially since we both had ttb's...which suck. I did have to build my own tranny x-member and RA drops (only 2"s so my RA's are horizontal to the ground).

Good luck

Twin Traction Beam. It's a crappy attempt at an independent front suspension (imo).

The TTB does work pretty well in desert racing though.
