New to going off road

Hey guys I just got my 4x4 in my F150 repaired. (Dealer really tore me a new one but whatever it works). Anyways I have a few questions regarding off roading that I couldnt find in search. I've been told you always stay in 2 wheel until you get stuck, I think thats pointless but I've been told thats the way it goes. I've also been told to go extremely slow so I don't hurt the 4x4 system, again I feel this is stupid because you need to really turn the tires to get through some mud. Again I'm just doing this for the sake of knowing. I'm going to purchase some KM2's pretty soon and I don't want to be that jackass that doesn't know anything about off roading.

I'm only asking because I know nothing about trucks or 4x4 systems. I knew my Mustang GT and WS6 like the back of my hand but this truck not so much.

*Now replacing the other hub and actuator* It will be a while before I go get dirty >

4WD is for use in low traction situations. using it offroad, you will face no issues. you can cruise around in the dirt, sand, mud, whatever in 4 HI all day. hell, guys use 4 HI out in the desert at like 65 mph.

You use 4 Low when you're stuck, feel like you might get stuck, or are pulling someone out. The transfer case ratio in Low is like 2.75:1, so you practically triple your gearing ratio in 4 Low.

Never engage 4WD on the dry pavement. This is wear parts break and bind up.

Do you want a thorough explanation of how the 4WD system works?
