norcal here, but!

my brother is in tujunga. he likes the place heading up I-5 and to the right. you go north til you hit a lake on the left, then look for offramps to the left. there is a matrix of back roads used for gas pipeline maintenance, they have some great trails.

only slightly further, death valley, my favorite! check this out!.

Check out Johnson Valley. Check out Friends of Johnson Valley. Place is generally used for the more extreme crowd, but there is plenty of open desert and fun to be had.

The amount of places to wheel in CA are endless. Big Bear, Rubicon, Fordyce, Hollister, JV, and thats just to name the biggest names I can come up with.

Check out

for more places to wheel. I warn you, don't post there unless you have thick skin, and KNOW what your talking about.

Jack craig: awesome pics. Looks like a fun place to explore. Just so ya know, people don't generally call that rock crawling. It is, and your 100% right, they generally leave that term for the more extreme fellas, like this:

buddies rig:

and just a fun one you'll like:

Just so ya know. I don't care, but some people will take the term pretty seriously, and bash someone who doesn't. Just tryin to help.

Anyways, ya need some more ideas, let me know. Got plenty. Slowly becomes a way of life, and then for some, even more then that !

Big Bear, Arrow head, Silverwood. All have trails for 4x4's, quads and dirtbikes. And I don't think you need a day pass if you keep it moving.

from the canyon in general. I take El Toro all the way up until it turns into the canyon then make a right at Cooks Corner then I'm at Holy Jims in like 10 min.
