Best Offroad Lift

Okay, so here's the deal... I was going to get a lift on my 08 FX4 SCREW, but nobody seems to make a good, small lift kit for off-roading... am I right, the Skyjacker 3" suspension lift puts the a-arm and ball joints at too much of an angle? And nobody else makes a 3" suspension? The level kits, like my 3"er from Fat Bob's seem to rub on the coil springs - not complaining, I had heard about some prob's w/ it b4 I installed it, just wanted the lift (dumb of me). I kinda like the idea of the Camburg uniball upper a-arms and bolt in coilovers, b/c it seems to me that they eliminate the prob w/ the front suspension - except for cv angles and crap... WHY DOESNT ANYBODY MAKE A 3" SUSP LIFT?!?!?! I will spend a fortune on Camburg! I dont have a fortune! Anybody got any ideas? I do offroading a lot w/ my truck, and sometimes i push my truck too hard. But what I want is on-road performance, w/ killer off-road capability. 1 more thing - I DON'T WANT A FULL SUSPENSION LIFT. Thanks!

i think that if you want awesome off road capabilty you will almost need a lift. the only thing you could really do with 3" would be a body lift, but i hear they are a PITA. Ive also heard that with cost, labor, and gap guards you are looking at close to the same price as a 6" pro comp. This is just all off memory, i may be wrong you would whave to do some research. but if you wanted to stay lower rancho makes a good 4", but my 4" sits about as high as a 6". its hard to decide, but eithe way i think youll end up spending some money either route to do it right

A lift wont bother your warranty unless they can PROVE that it caused the problem. ive had a seal replaced in my transer case that was leaking and both upper ball joints with my lift all under warranty.

Just a quick Q: I'm pretty sure I have 3.55 gears on my truck, I noticed noblem had 4.56 gears I think. Are my gears good if I wanted to go w/ 35's?

you will lose a little power but you will be fine until you can afford to regear

about 11.5 i took that crapy black plasctic thing off the bottom of the front bumper and they dont rub in the front but if i float a rear tire due to flexing it it rubs a little on the rear tire well not bad at all and honestly it does outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!

summit racing 2" spacer part# SUM-G786 i dont have any pics, dont have a camera! but i heard that if you go bigger than a 2" spacer it puts too much stress on your ball joints but honestly that is plenty of clearance for a 150 you just need to watch your aproach and pick and choose your routs acrost serious terain and remount your trailer plug ins up in your rear bumper both the 4pin and 7pin are mashed on my truck "battle wounds" i like sandstone so tow hitch and underside of bumper get draged alot

Yep, I can vouch for the 3" spacer that I have... too much stress... I think I'll do a temporary fix next week and replace my 3" w/ the summit racing 2" or a 2" Auto Spring. Battle wounds, haha... I hear ya, I bent my passenger side running board. I went up this HUGE hill, I think it was meant for ATVs or Jeeps, but anyways, I got up there drove around and when I came back down I TURNED into the pathway/ditch instead of approaching it straight on, and my running board caught... but it did protect my truck, cause otherwise I would have hit my door. I dug it out w/ a knife, the heels of me and my buddy's boots, and eventually some shovels that his brother brought for us. lol. I don't think I could ever resist some offroading

the best offroad lift would be a full suspension lift. leveling kits put additional strain on the front suspension. this, coupled with the abuse of frequent offroading will lead to excessive cv and ball joint wear.

okay, so Im now down to this... removing level kit and putting on body lift with 35's or taking level kit out and putting in Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks (and yes I would relpace all the shocks at the same time w/ the Bilsteins) with 33's or 35's. Any suggestions?

I would do the Bilstein shocks, mainly because of the price difference if you were to get everything professionally installed. I have heard body lifts on 04-08 trucks can get pretty pricey.
