It works great. I use to do it to the plastic on my Yamaha Big Bear before taking it out and mudding. Works just as well on the truck.

I wouldn't do it everyday. If you applied for daily driving, I think it would actually just collect dust. However, right before you go mudding, it works great at keeping the stuff from sticking so well.

Great work at keeping the truck purdy, MercedesTech.

X2 !!!

thats amazing, at first i kinda agreed with everyone else (in begining of thread) that wheeling (even lightly) was going to leave some battle scars but you seem to have worked a miracle with your truck, how??????

and as ATOM suggested with having two trucks, a DD and a wheeling truck, i do jump in with my one of my buddies in their fully built jeeps and leave my f150 behind when the trail get real rough and technical but then again i have to rely on it seven days a week (and its stock), must be nice having a dedicated toy truck

usually my truck only sees offroad adventures on the way up to our weekend camping trips, which is a LONG ride through the woods and in some spots tight and rough

Ya, me too. Like I said, I am lucky to be in the industry. I got detailers all around me. Lots of good know how, and good products being used. If it weren't for that, pretty sure my truck would be either torn up, or staying away from brush. Its just overly convenient for me not to become OCD !

As for the guys wanting to know how I did it, I can e-mail you a BUffing 101 e-mail that rollingrock sent to be over a year ago. I keep it saved on my computer. Really has some great info on it. Its what got me started, then guys started seeing me detail all the time, and would slowly trickle over, giving me more advice, and what not. Just kinda worked out. I can also get the right touch up paint from a local guy here, if needed. Anyways, just give me your e-mail and I will forward it over to you. Should get you started.

PLASTIC SHELF LINER!!!

Like the kind that your mom uses to line the closets or the kitchen pantry.

Buy some rolls of it from Wally World or some other place. Just stick it on before you go wheeling and then remove at the end of the trail. The stuff comes in clear, colors, and even flowers for you girls out there.

Thanks for all the compliments fellas ! Its appreciated. Took awhile for me to be have the nerve to do that kinda work on my truck though. Lucky enough to have plenty of junk cars to practice on, and like I said, pros sitting around, willing to help me out. This buffing 101 will get you started. If you get more "advanced" or have some really bad scratches, let me know and we can go from there. Follow the steps in the e-mail first, and if its not coming out, then snap some more pics and we can see what we are working with. I got quite a few e-mail to get through, and some catch up work from the recent time off. Let me get caught up, and I will start e-mailing yall the info.

WARNING: This e-mail is what got me started down the path of the OCD truck owner. OCD + a love to off road = hours upon hours spent doing this, plenty of money goes into the products, especially if your starting from scratch. Key: be patient.

I try to baby my 06 but its still impossible not fo fv(ker up the paint. Gravel chips really dont even bother me anymore because its impossible for me not to have a chit ton of them, cornstalks and weeds leave nice little pinstripes on the rocker panels, branches are hard to get away from, etc. I can usually talk myself into staying out of anything that will really mess up the paint bad, but its no fun that way. My truck needs a good detail on the paint to get it looking nice again. Black is even more of a bish.

Luckily I just got a 97 F150 that Im not too scared to mess the paint up on...I already have a bunch of somewhat bad scratches running down passengers side and Ive hardly driven the thing yet. Its silver too, so its a lot harder to see all the scratches/chips too
