Sank my damn truck......
Sank my damn truck......
Well the day started off great with a day full of dirtbiking and wheelin the truck when I first got out there. Then later in the day I took the truck out one more time before we left and I sank it in a deep hole. Basically it was the approach angle I took. I had already hit the same hole numerous times today but the last time I came in a from a different angle and the truck got stuck.
All was well untill I heard the sound of water entering my ****ing cab. Had a jacked up excursion pull me out. I just spent the last 8hrs straight removing the front and rear seats, console, floor AC system, carpet etc.
I still have more work to do tomorrow as I need to be thorough and make sure I dont miss anything or Ill get mildew. Then reinstall the whole interior and get the truck professionaly detailed inside and out. Then I need to flush my tranny fluid, rear diff, front diff, motor oil and she'll be good as new.
BTW dont do the same mistake as me, stay out of the water. it sucks ***.......
And unfortunately is was all caught on film so i can relive this crappy experience over and over, Ill make a vid of it with some aftermath and before and after cleaning sometime later this week and post it.
Anyone now of some good midlew spray thats good for auto interior and anything else I should do?

i think you should probably get some kind of steamer. try and kill that mildew.
or get vinyl floors this time around. much much much cheaper and WAY easier to clean
IMO if you cant clean the floor thoroughly, get vinyl you will be way happier. and its much more "offroading" friendly

I like the cozey feeling and sound quailty that carpet gives ya. Im just going to clean this the best I can. I mean there is nothing in the cab right now, it looks like its been to a chop shop. I'm not going to off road for awhile..................and no more water. Just stupid....
yeah that should do the trick.
maybe get an air purifier and an extension cord, crank up the ionization and seal your truck up with it inside.
then the next day when you get in there roll the windows down and allow it to air out. when i bought my truck it smelled like cigarettes. i dont smoke so that wasnt okay with me.
the purifier did the trick. im sure it would take moisture out of the truck too, well worth a shot.

I have been through this twice. Did the water get to the seats of just the carpet and jute? Pressure wash the carpet till the run off is clear, I usually set the carpet on some lawn chairs when I am doing this. Leave carpet in direct sunlight for 2 days to dry.
The Jute really needs to be replaced, from experience I can tell you that stuff holds an odor. It is pretty cheap and easy to install so its best to just replace it

The jute is the carpet foam? underneath?
And I just went and bought some damprid mildew inhibitor spray. I cant get the carpet out of the truck completely. I cant get the damn bolts off the bottom of the rear seat bottom. Not the T50 screws at the feet but the 18mm bolts towards the back of the rear seat. So the carpet is rolled all the way back. im going to steam clean the top right now, then thoughluy dry the padding, clean it, dry it amd treat with inhibitor spray.
Still have to change all the fluids....

All I gotta say is
I've been there man, it sucks, and you'll say you aren't going out there again, but just wait. A month from now you'll be doing the same stuff, just from different angles lol.

I have tons of pics of the cleanup and mess. Ill make a video later and include everything.
update-
Finally got the carpet out by taking out the rear seatbelt bolts, its been pressure washed and cleaned and its dry now(florida sun) I cleaned EVERYTHING and water sealed everything. I used some DampRid Mold and mildew blocker. Now Im goin back out there to reinstall everything. Then Ill change the oil, wash the ext.
Goin to Ford tomorrow to get the tranny and diffs changed. Then a professional detail after the hurricane hits and she'll be better than before.

Ok guys, at 24hrs later the truck is perfect and back to normal. i cant explain what a pain in the *** this was. I worked non-stop on this. Stripped it down to nothing and cleaned and sanitized, and mold blocked and re assembled everything to a "T". Its perfect, tomorrow the ext is getting washed and ill change ALL the fluids and its getting detailed for ****s after the hurricane. ill post a vid after i edit one up tomorrow.-Adam
why don't you guys just extend the vent tubes on your axles and tranny, put permatex on the trans and engine dipstick and the spark plug wires so all you have to do is clean out the interior? i'm putting a spray in bedliner in the cab of my truck as soon as winter break starts from college so i can just hose it all out
