Ok im trying to plan a trip up to North Carolina to check out the wild horses and the beaches and all that. Need some help from some folks up that way that know about the rules regarding taking my truck onto the beaches. I am taking one of the Land Cruiser Corolla Outback Adventure tours while Im there but that will be in the provided Land Cruiser and not my truck. Do they allow camping out there on the outer banks beaches? Its just going to be a small trip, most likely me and my girlfriend and the a buddy of mine and his fiance, both our trucks (my screw and his z71). We will staying there probably 3 days and hope to camp out on the beach.

Anybody with any knowledge please feel free to help me out!

 

A lot of restrictions on the beach these days. At Oregon Inlet, you can still go out on the beach, some areas are roped off. No overnights. I believe it is a ten pm cut off. As far as Corolla, I believe there is no stopping, only travel opened up to and from the beach houses. I could be wrong, don't get to Corolla a lot. Also Hatteras is sectioned off as well. Have a good time.

You can stop and park for the day at both Oregon Inlet and Corolla but you cant camp or have fires on the beach. There is a campground at Oregon Inlet but its not right on the beach. Down past Oregon Inlet in the Waves/ Salvo area you still cant camp but they do allow fires on the beach and there is also a campground down there where you can camp right on the sound. I love both the Corolla and Waves areas but if you want the more relaxed camping type trip go to Waves. Corolla has gotten preaty comercialized.

 

Yeah, no camping on Corolla beaches. You can take both of your trucks out there though and drive around through the dunes, that's an awesome time.

I stay at a beach house in Corolla every year.
