4WD150, my truck is an 03 5.4L 4WD. The only mods are body lift, tires (315-70-17), steps, toolbox, and (full) true dual exhaust w/ longtube headers, and a CAI (stock tuning/gearing 3.55 ls). nonetheless, even w/ my AT's, I was able to throttle through quite a bit. The first stuck I was in, my front right tire just hit a puddle than was deeper than 4.2trimbles kneelength. i knew immediately i was going to be stuck. the second time, i went in a little too deep for my AT's ability. I even got a little water in the cab. that was a bitch to clean up, lol. ironically, trimble got stuck in the very same hole i did, immediately after pulling me out of it.

Cecil, I hope everything turns out ok, you know you want to do a 5.4 swap, lol. are you guys gonna drop the oil pan to examine the rods?

tj03150, all modulars use the same mounts. also, the only 5.4L that came w/ a different auto was the L. non lightning's received the 4R70W.

Trimble were cool so I'm not trying to come off as a dik but your going WAY too fast entering those holes. If you would enter slowly and make a bow wake and follow it you wouldn't have hydrolocked. Fast through water creates all sorts of problems, but I do hope you get it worked out. I bet you have plenty of water in the oil. Drain that and hope to God the rod bearings are not fuked

quick update.

scott i completely agree with you i hit the hole WAY to fast.

Anyway i bought a 99 4.2 for $750 with a 90 day warranty.

I stripped all the accessories (power steering pump, water pump, ac, alternator) All these stayed intact so i wouldnt have any leaks.

My X-girlfriend's dad will be raplacing the engine the rest of the way for me tomorrow. He is a very good guy. I would be right there helping but i have to work doubles sat. and sun.

I will be breaking the old engine down and rebuilding it just incase the one i bought dies.

yeah i has a deal for a 2001 4.2 with a 100 day warranty for $800 but id have to swap out the intake manifolds since they change to dual ports (i think thats what its called) and that was just too much work so i went with the 99.

In a year the other engine should be completely built and then ill just drop that in. sounds like a good plan to me. And ill know its breaking point.

ill let you know how the swap goes.
