Hey yall, i was thinking about buying an older truck to make into a nothing but mud truck. I'm not sure what kind of truck yet,so lets see your offroad rig pics ford or not so i can get an idea of what to get. thanks

 

some good rigs to look at are Bronco II's, Rangers, Samuri's, Jeep XJ's, these can all be picked up for fairly cheap.

my buddys got a sweet 89 ranger that he swaped some 90's jeep cherokee axles with that was fairly easy to do and its an amazing wheeling rig!

Unfortunately, this one stays on the ranch for driving into the hills for firewood, pulling down trees etc

Looking to buy another like it and build up for wheeling because i love that chevy...

 

im going with an 85 Bronco 2, so i can take my daughter and other family wheelin. i have a d35 for the front and a ranger 8.8 for the rear. going to get jeep coils so it stays flexy up front.

 

Here's one for ya! It's already built up, trail tested and certified, and to my dismay, I just put her up for sale (shameless plug, I know)

 

I had a 79 k10 on 35s...it was sweet. Sold it a couple of weekends ago

Thanks bro. It's an outstanding performer on the trails! Wolf17, Brewdude, Vader716, and Corbin1357 have wheeled with me and would testify. The BDS setup is magnificent, and it has a lot of clearance, even with the 33's. If I weren't selling it, I'd throw on a set of 36" or 37" meats, because it's begging for them. They would suck on road though.

I have a 93 Explorer. The 4.0 is very reliable, not a huge powerhouse but it gets the job done. The stock a4ld autos are garbage, I have a stock M5OD-R1 manual in it...quite abit better than the a4. In stock form or with a slight lift and tires they really perform well offroad.

With 31"s and new sliders (2 years ago).


With fullsize d44 and 9". First time it sat on it's "new" axles. Still working on it. Will have 5.13's locked front, full spool rear, 35" tires. Hope to have less than 6"s of total lift.

 

Code that is an awsome trail rig. Those things are damn near indestructable. I use to wheel with a guy who had one and it could tackle just about anything. Would love to see some progress pics when you get further!

That was this winter. It's back in pieces now haha. I just finished up setting the rear pinion angle, welding the spring perches, and swapping discs onto the 9". The front just needs some ball joints, brakes/bearing and some time to setup the gears. Then tires....

 

Code, I haven't been back on RRORC for awhile now, but you're still not done yet? Taxx must not be much help I figured you'd have that thing up and wheeling at the Badlands long ago.
