stuck jeep getting pulled out by FORD

Maybe I am just showing the non-offroad white collar side of my 4x4 experience but does it do any damage to yank that hard on that jeep to get it out? I got a 2wd stuck one time on accident when I was camoing (rained overnight and turned everything into mud) and the guys that pulled me out didn't yank like that.
Watch the chain in that video. Those people are retards.

Nice vid. I'd still pick a jeep over f150 on the trail anyday. I like my F150, and plan on doing a little off roading in the one im buying in 2 weeks, but I would put money on my jeep anyday. Im not trying to say jeeps are better that ford. But, I think they are better offroad.

My jeep would of walked through both of those, last one in 2wd.

Jeeps are light and that is their only advantage. The kid in the 3rd vid in the green truck should be shot, I don't go offroad and even I know you don't drive slow into something like that. What an idiot. The best trucks can get stuck with stupid behind the wheel. The last one looked like an inexperienced driver in a 2wd.

Jeeps being light and short is their advantage,I know that. Not many more "advantages" you could have. A 4wd is a 4wd, take a f150 and a 1500, as long as they weigh the same and are lifted the same, they will pretty much perfore identical. And that is why jeeps are better offroad, a jeep on 33s will out perform a f150 on 33s. Nothing wrong with that, just simply stating.
Yea, a honda accord could of made it through the 3rd one if it had enough speed. And I think that last one is 4x4. Atleast he says so.

I would agree, I could go more place with a Heep then an F150....
but I could go far more place with a Stock samurai then a modified Jeep.
here is a pretty cool video of a Samurai vs. a cj (race) and the CJ has a v8 (big block!!)

A "SNAP" pull or a "yank" does put a lot more stress on your vehicle. You do risk break your tow straps as well. (just comes with the whole "off road" territory)
As long as you know what your doing, and have GOOD recovery point and KNOW how to tie/hook up to them then you'll be fine. Also make sure you have a strap with the correct tow ratings.
Always try slow, steady pulls at first, but in this case, the Jeep was stuck like chuck and the yank were necessary to get the jeep up and out. Sometimes the extra force in the snap will be enough to start the momentum, then you just pull it out.
*** N E V E R do this with chains OR tow straps with metal hooks ! Only do this with a standard tow strap.

And MercadesTech brought up a serious safety issue with the metal hooks. I have seen where tow straps used for recovery broke and sent the hooks through windshields like a missile. Many people do it and get away with it but I wouldn't be anywhere near somebody doing that.

I just wanted to add that a tow strap is not designed for and should not be used for recovery. You really want a recovery strap and there is a difference. A recovery strap is designed to stretch and retract kind of like a big rubber band and store up energy for that extra oomph, where as a tow strap will stretch some but not much and is not designed to be yanked on. Yanking on a regular tow strap like that would be much harsher than with a recovery strap. Recovery straps also generally have a much higher breaking strength. I just carry a small 2" strap in my Jeep and it has an 18000# rating where as a 2" tow strap would probably less than half of that.

Thats some serious nit-picking right there ! Its ok tho, your right, its a recovery strap... but a tow strap will work and I have a tow strap for pulling broken vehicles back to camp rated at 100,000 pound breaking point.
And I seriously doubt there is a 2" wide strap that is rated at 180,000 pounds .... but I guess it could be. The highest rated recovery strap I have played with was at 160,000 and i think that was 6" - 10" wide (beast!)

Just saw a diesel samuri for sale online. That would be one sick offroad toy.
Forget the towstrap. Just get a winch, has saved me many times. But you are all wrong about the recovery strap, this is how you are suppose to do it.
