I don't have a picture, but its a weight like you would put on a bench bar at the gym. I just run the chain through the middle. Basically its on there so if the chain fails under tension, it goes under the truck instead of through a tailgate, glass.

Its a Kobolt from Lowes. I didn't want a full size toolbox, and this one is only half the size. It's also plently big enough to mount the antenna on the side, I just mounted there because i didn't want to see it in the side mirror.

Here's my last truck @ work... I will admit, it wasn't doing much 'working'.

It's was a 2001 King Ranch... We were setting groundwater monitoring wells on a former paint manufacturing site...

The site was basically a Ford Truck commercial. My truck. A contractor's F-250 XLT in the distance (white). The drill rig (a BK88D rig - on a F-650). The white F-150 in the near (driller's support truck). Grey F-250 (my concrete contractor's truck)...

Here's my current truck doing a little bit of light work...

I know I'll get razz'd for these pics but, oh well... LOL! I'll admit it - the truck has served more as a garage queen than as a truck.

naw im going to take it and have it line-x'd. I just dont think you do it yourself roll on stuff is as strong. My buddy found a place that sold toolboxs that had blemishes from the factory that they took and had line-x'd. He got a good deal on them too.

I lot of people will throw towels or a blanket over the chain as well, for the same purpose...if it snaps, it will be more controlled, and hopefully not cause damage. I've never the heard of using a weight, that's an interesting idea

Great pics everyone!!

The blanket/jacket works by taking in Kinetic Energy. The weight doesn't really do that, just redirects everything downwards. I honestly don't know which is safer. I've never had my chain fail, so I don't know if the weight will work better or not. All I know is that I have personally seen a couple of jackets get thrown 30 feet up in the air when a winch line broke. Sure it slowed the cable down a lot, but not enough for my liking.
